Chrysler dumps Leo Burnett for CumminsRoss
The US motor giant Chrysler has appointed newly-formed agency CumminsRoss, Melbourne in Australia.
Sam Tabart, Chrysler Australia’s new head of Marketing said: “It was difficult to end the relationship with our incumbent, Leo Burnett, and they have been outstanding in their service of our brands. We saw a compelling offering and a range of ideas from CumminsRoss that made us think differently about our agency requirements going forward.
“CumminsRoss has deep automotive experience as individuals and they have a genuine passion to succeed. We want to plug into that energy. And also enjoy the obvious advantages of being a foundation client”.
Said Jason Ross of CumminsRoss: “We are thrilled to be part of the Chrysler family and we are already working hard to move metal for them”.
Adds Sean Cummins: “We think this is the time for all their brands to make a statement in the market. It’s certainly Jeep’s time. And we believe it could be a powerhouse brand in the auto landscape. It’s great to be working with such a great team at Chrysler”

Bring back Arnie!
That shot looks like a promo for a new season of queer eye for a straight guy!
Jason has confirmed that their slogan for Chrysler, ‘Shift The Tin’ would have won the business.

Thanks for my morning laugh.
Caption contest please.
Clems do the only retail dealer work I can remember in this market, and get the arse.
Leo’s win the business in a four/five way creative pitch, and within a year get the arse because the client sees someone newer and shinier.
I’m sure Cummins, Ross and Partners will be smart enough to not include any Chrysler income in their 2012 forecasts.
US motor giant?
Surely you mean the pint-sized local office of the US motor giant….
It’s just that smug fucking expression that does it for me.
Wednesday nights only on Lifestyle Channel – brought to you by Versace and Chrysler
Nightmare client, but any business is good business at this stage.
Hope their stuff is as good as the W+K stuff that’s happening in the US
Cums in Ross
I’m convinced that when reviewing the specially commissioned PR shot, they were absolutely sure that it made them look affable, friendly, knowledgeable, worldly and a touch sophisticated. However…
Lock up your clients people.
It’s funny, one of them fired a car client cause they never gave him business and the other was never allowed to work on the car client his agency had.
Now scroll back up and look at the picture one more time!
i feel sorry for leo burnett melbourne – sydney seems to be consistently doing well and melbourne keeps losing. they are a good agency though
Yikes! Whatever happened to Jason’s flowing locks?
Time sure has passed.
And I see Sean has moved on from a Grunge to a Blues Brothers look, which I suppose is better than his earlier Country Road look.
Another industry site is reporting this is a $16m piece of business.
Titter. Giggle. Chuckle. Guffaw. Laugh. Hysterics.
How long before they send this client the same text they sent Holden?
In my humble opinion, and only posted here to encourage discussion and perhaps a different point of view to my own:
Shit floats.
This is further proof that there’s a void of substance in the client arena as well as our own.
Watch like attract like.
Their roster will be a litany of clients to avoid, their staff populated by people who lie awake at night haunted by the compromise they make every waking second of their working lives.
I think I just threw up in my mouth…
Welcome to advertising!
The fundamental premise of numerology is that life, and the universe as a whole, is an orderly system, and that numbers reflect that orderliness.

Announce this client appointment on 11022011
Is this the end of the world?
Are Sean and Jas leading the eschatological final battle?
Could this be the last comment on CB?
If this is the case, what am I still doing at work on a Friday night at 7pm? Time to get wasted!
So I’m guessing Cummins and Co. did that Don’t hold back shit. Vomit. Let’s send jeep back to the eigthies.
Oh, I’ve seen the current stuff. Was that RossCummins? Surely not?
Mwwwha ha ha ha. I sell agency for millions then start new agency and steal peoples clients. Mwwwha ha ha ha ha.
If I was another car brand in Australia I won’t really be shaking in my boots. The advertising is rubbish.
Congrats guys. You deserve everything that’s coming to you.
Yep – cummins ross did the don’t hold back shite.
Account loss or not, I’d rather work at Leos any day, than Cummins Ross!
I’m not exactly a Cummins fan, but I do like the new ad I must say.
What I really don’t get though, is all the bitterness and bad energy on this post.
Geez guys, were you all abused as children? You all take everything so personally.
Let it go! You’ll all become much better humans for it trust me.
8:23, I guess there’s something about getting shafted that brings out the worst in some people.
@ 11:23 – Most ppl on this post wouldn’t recognize being shafted! They’ve all got their own heads so far up their own bottoms all they can see is the crap in everything!
Jesus, there’s a lot of angry people in advertising, ready to criticise anything – even a pretty normal promo shot, for god’s sake.
Pretty embarrassing reflection on the industry, I reckon.
I have seen some really wanky photos on this site, but I wouldn’t say this is one of them.
Go and do something significant yourselves before you start hacking into some guys who have done something in the industry and are now backing themselves in.
Might be beneficial, instead of taking some cheap pot shots and running out all the old “soap opera” jokes.
Keep smiling, and bye for now…
Dunno what others call this, but I call it ‘a good start’.

I worked at cummins when they fired Holden. And it was one of the bravest, self affirming gestures I had ever seen. I also remember the industry at the time acknowledging the courage to sack a client that demanded ordinary, over researched work. It was stirring stuff. To see principles in actions. As the saying goes, a principle isnt a principle until it costs you money. And it cost the agency money. And where is Holden now? Agency wise and brand wise? Doing wallpaper work at a wallpaper agency. Mind you Ford must like it cos their work is identical.
As for making personal comments about Sean and Jason, imagine if all this was written about you? I enjoy reading comments that are based on facts well expressed. But the personal stuff about what the photo looks like, or what someone is wearing is just pathetic.
Most of you obviously dont know Sean. And if you know jason he is simply the nicest guy. And nice guys will finish first.
For what it is worth…i like the ad..obviously it is a oversease footage. But the theme has some real promise.
Not a bad way to start an agency.
4:50
You couldn’t help yourself could you?
If only you’d kept your comments to supporting Sean and Jason and you’d left it at that.
But no, you had to go and bad-mouth AJF an agency full of ‘nice guys’ who’ve done nothing but build a terrific business by working hard and not bad-mouthing others in the process.
So, this is just for you. You’re a hypocrite, no better than those you criticise for bad-mouthing Sean and Jason. They don’t need idiots like you coming to their defence.
[By the way, good luck guys and well done on Chrysler]
better to be remembered for doing good work and having a laugh,
no one got famous for slagging people off
9:02 here.
Sorry to 4:50. My comments were directed at 10:30.

You sanctimonious shit.
It is obvious to me and to many others on this bile ridden blog ( the reason most people read it is for the bile) that there are the favourites and the not so favourite.
Sorry, I have nothing against anybody. Its the work and the output of the agency that matters to me. And in Holden and Ford’s case, i am sorry but both the work and their agencies dont set the world on fire. To ME!
So rather than get a lesson from you on manners, just pause and think about who gets a lot of negative personal shit here! Some get heaps more than most. And others…get a charmed passage.
Read the comments above. They are personal, trivial and quite frankly laughable.
Sure AJF may be nice guys. In fact…I am sure they are. But so are Sean and Jason..and probably you..except on this blog.
I am sure Sean doesnt give a fuck about being portaryed as some pantomime baddie…but you come over a bit rich defending people.
Either this blog reverts to being Debrett’s etiqette…or everyone should just enjoy the rough and tumble of anonymous fucks like you. Oh…and me. I am a nice guy too. I just have a fucking opinion that disagrees with yours.
Have a nice day.

Leo’s Melbourne doesn’t let their creatives create. F1, Cricket, Chrysler, all walked while the creative department did mock ups for 7-Eleven
I feel for the people working there who want to do great work, against the creep of retail.
regarding all the bile….
it’s there because they deserve it. you don’t see people calling Ant Keogh a smarmy bastard…that’s because he’s done nothing to deserve it…
If you’re a prick, you deserve to get pasted.
if you’re a great guy, praise.
It’s that simple.
peace niggaz !
Tall poppies or small pricks?
at the end of the day its all about emotional perseption and distilling the value proposition better than anyone else can . .at the end of the day someone must be the best
