BWM Melbourne launches new tv campaign for I&J featuring fish-loving wrestler Iron Jay
BWM Melbourne has created a new television campaign for frozen foods brand I&J, following the success of the original TV commercial which featured fish-loving wrestler Iron Jay.
I&J parent company Simplot Australia asked BWM Melbourne to create the TV commercial to promote I&J’s latest product within its Light & Crispy range: fish fillets in original crumb.
The new spot, which went to air on June 19, tells the next chapter in Iron Jay’s story in a light and comical way as he trains to retain his title as World Crunch Champ. As always, his inspiration is I&J.
BWM Melbourne managing director Hugh Nairn said: “The new television campaign further builds on I&J’s much-loved character, Iron Jay, while reinforcing the positive and motivational factors associated with its latest product.
The 30 second TV commercial will run nationally and will be supported by outdoor executions.

Horrible
Jeez, maybe Grey weren’t doin such a bad job after all.
Tortured.
Very gay. Oh and shite.
That could’ve been so cool.
Iron Jay? Stoopidly brilliant! I love it.
But the execution was so safe.
Thank God that CB’s no-slag-thursday is over……this is just complete and utter crap.
Iron Jay is now a symbol that I bet is working it’s tits off.
I really think it’s good advertising. Even if it’s not a Cannes GOLD fucking script.
PS go Suze & Kl – nice wk
Spew!
Faceless multinational client would love it. Probably tests well.
Complete shit, of course.
I like it. I bet mums do too.
The original Iron Jay spot was terrific. It made “I&J” memorable, and the script and execution were fresh.
This is thirty seconds of horrible FMCG trash.
This is obviously not done by the same team.
If I were the team that originally conceived this direction, I’d be throwing the remote at the TV in furious anger.
5:01,
So you threw your remote at the TV in furious anger then?
Genius or not this looks an awful lot like the first one to me, but I’ve no doubt mum at home will be able to pick the subtle nuance of difference you’re obviously detecting. If this is FMCG trash, then the first one was too. There’s bugger all difference I’m afraid.
Like other’s have said, it’ll work its tits off, probably, surprise surprise, like the first one would have.
