Yeah, why not?
balls
They should apologise for being a croc of shit.
Why?
huzzah’d in the ass.
dumb move.
too soon! we’re still deeply hurt by your total disregard for reptilian life
Clever. Tough crowd
funny
This is almost a really good strategy.
release a really crap ad.
and then apologise for it 2 days later.
makes the public just feel sorry for the creatives but at least humbled by their apology
that is, if the apology wasn’t as crap as the original ad.
These are funny but why haven’t I seem them on TV yet?
i’m pretty sure the public has never once thought about the creatives behind an ad.
maybe in the world you’ve made for yourself up your own ass.
Not funny.
Might have been good idea if there was a real backlash.
But even then, not funny.
And so obviously shot on the same day as the main spot – before any “complaints” existed… if they ever existed, which is highly unlikely. Bit sad really- making up controversy.
shouldn’t they be roasting a polar bear?
I think the lack of controversy and how it was obviously
shot on the day is whats funny. coulda been a 30″ though.
Saw this yesterday arvo and thought it was a bit much.
But I was at the cinema last night and the whole campaign played (yes, there’s a third coming), and the audience was cackling. Granted, it was an advance screening of Jackass. But that’s the target I suppose. Worked alright for me, too.
Well, the ‘we made a crap ad and apologised for it a week or so later’ was first introduced by Tango in the UK.
It was very famous.
Won loads of awards too.
Just sayin’
You’re onto something, 9:41. That would make a very nice apology for the apology ad.
It’s only advertising folks stop holding on so tight, un-clench your ass cheeks and try having some fun.
The best defense is a good offense.
love it. very funny. it’s great to see them taking risks and going for it. i saw it in cinema and people loved it – lots of laughing out loud. in fact it was the only ad people reacted to.
I laughed. But then, I love a good apology. My favourite is on the beginning of “Another Monty Python Record”. I found the words on the interwebz:
Michael Palin: Good evening. We apologize most sincerely to those of you who have bought this record under the impression this it was in any way connected with the television program, Monty Python’s Flying Circus. This was due to an error in the printing stage of the album cover. This album is in fact called ‘Pleasures of the Dance’, a collection of Norwegian Carpenter’s songs compiled by Oscar Trict.
(long pause)
John Cleese: Good evening. We apologize for the previous apology. This apology was unnecessary and appeared on the record owing to an administrative error. This album is not as stated in the previous apology ‘Pleasures of the Dance’, a selection of Norwegian Carpenter’s songs, but a new album from the humorous television comedy show ‘Monty Python’s Flying Circus’.
(sound of Norwegian carpenters singing and playing strange musical instruments)
Norwegian Announcer: This waltz is the Trondheim Hammer Dance, which is held every 25 minutes in the town of Trondheim, in which the old ladies are struck about the head with round sticks of clerdowl..
John Cleese: We apologize for that short extract from the ‘Pleasures of the Dance’ which appeared on this record of Monty Python’s Flying Circus owing to the same administrative error which resulted in the first apology. The rest of this record is now totally taken up with (laughs as he finishes) Monty Python’s Flying Circus.
Self indulgent.
dk – slow day at work today?
Brilliant!
Huzzah!!!!!!
Obviously 1:22pm – it’s Melbourne Cup day.
Or are you not in Australia?
an even bigger croc!
mojo did that natural man campaign for lion that also ran an apology as the last ad in the campaign, just about 2 years ago…
Taking risks 10.05am? How? By making a shit ad?
There’s no controversy to be had here. LB are trying to manufacture one by blowing up a plastic croc. Big deal.
As 8.46am said, done by Tango 15 years ago in response to real customer complaints.
Catch up LB.
