expo.jpgBrand Huddle today formally announced the launch of the New TLD Summit: Asia Pac 2012, taking place 19th – 21st November 2012 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The conference has been developed as collaborative forum to help today’s leading brands and trademarks understand the opportunities and risks presented by the introduction of ICANN’s new Top Level Domains (TLDs) program. Bringing together thought leaders and experts from within the domain industry, marketing and legal professions, to share their knowledge and insights into the impact that the upcoming introduction of over a thousand new TLD’s will have on business and the wider internet community.

The new TLD program, established by ICANN the global body responsible for the internet addressing system, will see arguably the single biggest change to the internet since it’s inception. Developed to ensure it has the capacity to continue to grow and maintain the highest levels of security, the introduction of new TLD’s will establish unprecedented levels of choice and opportunity within the online space. Unfortunately brand owners and the general internet community are ill prepared for the implications and complexity that this bring to their existing marketing and IP operations.

Fraudulent activity such as cybersquatting, phishing and counterfeiting will likely increase dramatically as bad operators try to take advantage of these new online spaces. Brand owners unaware of the opportunity to acquire valuable online real estate will inevitably let significant opportunities slip through their fingers, holding long term implications for their future business success.

Says Andrew Pink, director – sales and marketing at Brand Huddle: “The conference will offer attendees the knowledge and information to prepare for the roll out of new TLDs in 2013, giving them the capability to effectively deal with their introduction, minimising risk and maximising opportunity.”

The New TLD Summit is targeted at in-house legal counsel, IP & Trade Mark firms, brand and digital strategists, marketing and digital agencies, and domain industries related firms responsible for digital brand management and IP protection. With an impressive line up of speakers such as the following, the summit is assured to deliver significant value for the hundreds of attendees expected.

  • Chris Disspain, CEO auDA and ICANN Board Member
  • Bruce Tonkin, CSO MIT and ICANN Vice Chair
  • Richard Foxworthy, Head of strategy and lead for the Dot Yellowpages TLD application
  • Tim Johnson, CEO Dot Kiwi
  • Stuart Sheridan, Director Bullseye
  • Zoe Warne, Co-Founder August
  • Neil Brown, QC and Dispute panellist
  • Jurgen Bebber, Principle Griffith Hack

Says Pink: “The New TLD Summit has been specifically designed to assist Brand and Trade Mark representatives navigate the continually evolving digital landscape, forewarning and forearming them to future challenges they will face. It’s a must attend event for any new TLD applicant and all those who will be directly touched by the introduction of new TLDs.”
