AWARD announces jurors for 43rd AWARD Awards
The Australasian Writers and Art Directors Association (AWARD) has today announced the full lineup of jurors for the 43rd AWARD Awards.
A total of 81 creatives will be tasked with selecting the 43rd AWARD Awards winners, with online pre-judging to determine finalists taking place from 11 March to 25 March 2022 and virtual judging to nominate winners from 2 to 10 May 2022.
As announced on 11 February, globally-acclaimed creative Neil Heymann will act as this year’s AWARD Awards jury president.
This year’s jury Chairs are:

The AWARD Awards virtual ceremony will take place on Friday, 20 May 2022. Full details of the ceremony will be announced shortly.

Why is it that we keep seeing the same people on juries at AWARD awards every year? Sure, the deck might shuffle which category they judge, but there’s a lot of the same faces. Diversity shouldn’t just mean a quota of male and female representation, but also who those men and women are. There’s plenty of brilliant candidates who are more than capable of discussing, debating and awarding great work beyond this same-same pool that keeps on being selected. Quit being lazy with a tick-box approach to inclusivity and diversity and do better.
Why do the monkeys have 2 jury chairs?
Surely this isn’t right?
I’ll take this, sure it’s not perfect. We start the call out for jurors and formulating the lists from October. It’s a puzzle and a process. We absolutely try and make sure there’s proper balance, integrity and world class seniority (especially with the Chairs). Unfortunately people change jobs; fortunately their quality stays the same.
It’s a really great lineup of judges – from Dublin to Dubai.

Congrats on wrangling what is no doubt a difficult and often political beast when it comes to jurors. But I must ask; should it not be the price of admission to have at least been awarded at a high level at the show you’re judging? A lot of people on that list aren’t tall enough to ride, and that surely must undermine the winning/awarding of the Gold stuff. No? Yes? I don’t know.
People judging award shows in categories they’ve never won an award in has got to be a new low. Plain and simple.
Many “less famous” creatives have put their name forward multiple years and still not been asked to judge. I’ve won plenty awards at Award and still haven’t judged. Weird. I’ll keep trying though.
It’s the same group of people running the show and selecting the juries year in year out. These people only know so many people. I’m shocked there’s two chairs from one agency. But I’m not shocked it’s the same group of mates getting a seat on the jury each year.
The “same group” running the show is the same group who asked us all for suggestions. Put your hand up – or suggest some of your mates who deserve a go. This looks like a great list to me and I am not even on it.
