After last year’s brilliant effort at Cannes – New Zealand was ranked 9th in the world – how will NZ perform at Cannes this year?Over the next week in the lead up to the Festival, Campaign Briefwill be showcasing the work we hope will impress the judges…

The Lotto campaign was spearheaded by a two and a half minute commercial featuring a touching story of sailor Russell and his loyal dog Wilson who discover on the My Lotto site that their regular Powerball ticket is the big one! Shot by Steve Ayson and DoP Geoffrey Simpson the cinematic spot features a soundtrack sung by Australian legend Nick Cave. This is the first time Nick has allowed his unique voice to be used on a commercial.

MY SKY has the ability to record, pause and rewind live TV. In this spot, we see 60 things in 60 seconds that husbands all over New Zealand could potentially be doing instead of watching TV. It demonstrates to all women that MY SKY really is TV on your terms.

Share the Joy is a project aiming to create a song made entirely out of New Zealand’s sounds of joy. Over the past 6 months DDB New Zealand has been collecting sounds from all over the country. Now, with a little help from Bobby McFerrin, the agency is taking all of these joy samples and turning them into the first Glass and a Half Full Production made by an entire nation.

Often we forget that our favourite movies were once books. As a reminder this campaign for NZ book chain Whitcoulls uses complete books from start to finish, to recreate iconic images from famous films.

New Zealand’s Mini decided to put 330 harmonicas on the exterior of a Mini Clubman to create an angelical sound when the car passes by. Fans could also use that sound, in a specific website, to remix as they will.
