Ashley Brown snares national digital director role at media communications agency Initiative
Ashley Brown has been appointed national digital director of media communications agency Initiative, with his new role reaching across Initiative’s offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
Brown is formerly head of digital at Initiative’s sister agency UM and his move to Initiative is in parallel to announcements (this week) that UM is accelerating its digital resources across all four offices in Australia.
Henry Tajer, executive chairman of Mediabrands and acting CEO of Initiative, said Brown had been outstanding in his leadership of UM’s digital strategy and communications development.
Says Tajer: “Under Mat Baxter as CEO, UM has a new model for resourcing its teams and clients with digital talent and the agency is moving quickly to apply those additional resources. UM’s digital focus will increasingly be in strategy work within client teams, which has brought about the opportunity to place Ashley’s experience and leadership at Initiative.”
Brown replaces Initiative’s previous head of digital, Andrew Davis, who has joined start-up company Tapit, which specializes in new field communications technology. Brown said that Mediabrands businesses including Initiative had collaborated closely with Tapit in its early days of development and current NFC projects created in partnership between Mediabrands and Tapit would continue to showcase NFC for clients and staff.
Says Brown: “I believe NFC has a big future and I am looking forward to working with Tapit, as well as expanding Initiative’s capabilities across all digital opportunities and channels.”
His new role at Initiative is effective immediately.
