Artists from The Drawing Book Studios let colourful language rip in new artistic initiative
Six artists from The Drawing Book Studios have taken their favourite dirty words and expressed them on camera and in their illustrations. Owner of the studios, Matt Jackson, was shy at first but then just let them run with it.
Says Jackson: “Playfulness and initiative are two qualities that drive artistic expression beyond the expected. Colourful Language was something that the illustrators came up with to motivate themselves to step outside of client commissions and have a play outside the boundaries of a brief. We love it for that reason and because it’s harmless fun.”
The video was shot, edited and animated by new production house, Invisible Artists.
Says Jackson: “We have collaborated with Invisible Artists on a couple of projects and now offer our combined services to clients for online video that incorporates illustrations and animations. Dan Day’s sense of humour is what makes him such a pleasure to work with under pressure.”
The project is hosted by crowd funding site Pozible. The aim of the project is to raise enough funds through presales of the T-shirts, postcards
, badges and sponsorships ranging in value from $10 to $350.
If enough people help them to reach their goal by August the 5th there will be an exhibition with interactive media, music and live art all celebrating that cathartic feeling you get from expressing yourself with colourful language.
