Just nine months after joining from Droga5, multi-award winning creative Ben Akers has departed a CD gig at George Patterson Y&R Sydney for the same role at Republic of Everyone, Sydney – effective October 1.

At Patts, Akers worked alongside David Joubert – reporting to ECD Julian Watt.

At RoE he will be working closely with creative partner Ben Peacock and takes on responsibility for building on the agency’s unique reputation for success in the brand sustainability space.

Matt Perry, RoE managing partner said: “As soon as we met Ben we liked him. We thought he would add a new dimension to our great team of talented people.  At the same time we want him to bring along his own unique perspective and passion for sustainability and creative communications.”

Says Akers: “The Republic of Everyone is quite simply an agency for the future. It’s a place that can prove the power of ideas and genuinely wants to make a difference.”

Akers spent 10 years in the industry at some of London’s best agencies, before being lured from BBH to Droga5 Sydney.

During a two-year stint at Droga5 he co-created the Vanilla Ice apology work for Virgin Mobile and the Cannes Gold winning digital idea for V-Australia which set an (unofficial) world record for Tweeting every minute of three days. His campaign for 4320 has just been ranked #10 Direct Campaign in the world by The Big Won, an annual global ranking which charts the performance of individual agencies and networks.

Akers has won numerous awards at all the major shows around the world, culminating in his haul last year of three Cannes Lions and pencils at The One Show and D&AD.
