AIMIA Awards showbag goes digital
The bland, paper-laden conference showbag may be thrown in the bin for good, following the launch of an interactive solution created by Sputnik Agency, Mebourne.
Targeting attendees of this year’s Australian Interactive Media Industry Association (AIMIA) Awards, the AIMIA Goodie Bag Website was developed to both encourage redemption and reflect the high standard of interactive work in Australia.
“The AIMIA Awards acknowledge digital excellence in Australia, soSputnik was honoured to be selected to work with AIMIA to develop asolution that reinforced our positioning to attendees and eventpartners,” said Steve O’Farrell, managing director of Sputnik Agency.
“Traditionallythe only showbags that are vaguely entertaining are the ones you get atthe Royal Melbourne Show. The AIMIA conference showbag isn’t just fun,it’s also environmentally friendly, cost effective…and it won’t makeyou fat!”
Rather than providing website details at the event, anemail was sent to attendees telling them they “left something behind”at the Awards night and requesting that they visit the online “lost andfound department” via an email link.
With the help of AIMIA’sfictional lost and found attendant named “Bernie” – brought to life viacomplete video and flash integration by Sputnik – users were encouragedto scroll through the offers and select the ones they wanted to redeem.Offers then arrived shortly afterwards in the user’s inbox.
“We’redelighted with the digital solution that Sputnik developed, we’ve hadsome very positive feedback on the concept from event attendees andexpect high redemption levels of our partner offers in the comingdays,” said Cecilia Lindgren, commercial manager from AIMIA.

I like sputnik. Did some work for them a few years back. The only agency that paid me on time actually.
Who is that guy?
He’s amazing!
Yes, I’m left wondering if he might’ve been represented at last night’s Oscars. His performance was quite simply execrable.
Why promo this when we can’t login?
You can log in using the following password when prompted for an email: Campaign Brief
nice idea to suck people in, though the execution a bit ‘satisfactory’
I have been using Sputnik for the last 8 months and the creative talent/acc mgt combination is sensational. One of the few agencies I have found that consistently presents fresh concepts.
so actually its nothing like a showbag…
This website is rubbish, on a mac with fast internet the whole thing was slow and buggy, the audio and video were completely out of sync.
While it might have been a good idea the execution is horrific.
As for logins it’s not rocket science to figure out an email address of an attendee.
