11 top agencies sign up for inaugural Caxton Cadets – their best young talent to battle it out in live competition at #Caxtons Thursday + Friday
The ad industry has given the inaugural Caxton Cadets competition an emphatic thumbs up, with some of the country’s brightest and best creative, media and digital agencies set to take part.
BMF, BWM, DDB, JWT, Initiative, Naked, ZenithOptimedia, OMD, Soap, Amnesia Razorfish and The White Agency will all field contestants in the Caxton Cadets, a new, live creative competition at this year’s Caxton Seminar on Thursday and Friday in the NSW Hunter Valley.
Four teams of four, comprising a creative team, media specialist and digital specialist, will work in a hot house environment to crack a live cross-platform newspaper brief for Caxton 2011 sponsor and Caxton Cadets partner Lion.
The competition will provide an opportunity for Australia’s leading young advertising talent to demonstrate their skills and to take part in one of the country’s leading creative seminars.
Says Caxton Committee chairman Rob Belgiovane (left): “Frankly, the response has been overwhelming. It’s fantastic to see the industry embrace the Caxton Cadets initiative, with a bunch of enthusiastic young people with great creative minds getting the chance to show the rest of us what they’re made of. This is set to be a major highlight of this year’s event. Once again, we’d like to thank Lion for partnering with us to make Caxton Cadets happen.”
Teams will present at the Caxtons to a panel of judges drawn from the upper echelons of the creative, media and newspaper publishing sectors, and the winning team will be awarded on the night of the Caxton Awards.
The winning campaign will be produced and run in newspapers (print, online, tablet and mobile) during the first half of 2012. In addition, each winning team member will receive $2,000 each as well as the assistance of News Limited in crafting a submission for their campaign’s entry into the 2012 Cannes Lions.
Lion brand director Jon Bradshaw (left) said: “We are delighted to be part of this year’s inaugural Caxton Cadets competition and hope that the opportunity to work on one of Lion’s amazing brands excites the teams and brings out the very best of Australia’s young creative and strategic talent. I’m looking forward to seeing the results and helping select a winner at this year’s Caxton’s.”
The 2011 Caxton Seminar and Awards will be held from October 27-29. Delegates will convene at the stunning Chateau Elan, a new luxury 5-star resort located on The Vintage golf course in the Hunter Valley.
