SYDNEY – Curious Film’s Paola Morabito and New Zealand director Jane Campion are speaking about the craft of film making at 10am this Saturday 6 March 2010 at the Australian Film Television & Radio School.

Presented by the Australian Directors Guild, the event begins with a screening of Paola’s documentary, ‘Working With Jane’, and concludes with a Q&A with Paola and Jane.

brightstar-2.jpgbrightstar-3.jpgJane Campion is one of only four women ever nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director. She’s won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and two Palme d’Ors at Cannes, and her films include The Piano, An Angel at my Table, and Portrait of a Lady.

Paola worked with Jane as 2nd Unit director in London on “Bright Star”, which stars Abby Cornish, and captured the experience of “Working with Jane” through the eyes of a director’s assistant in her hour-long documentary, which screened in November 2009 on the ABC.

Paola got her first career break in 2001 when she was invited to work as Jane Campion’s assistant on In The Cut, shot in New York. This experience inspired Paola to pursue a career as a director, having worked in such diverse roles as costume designing and producing.
