Adelaide design consultancy Rodeo captures industry icon Paula Scher from Pentagram for global project airing on Getty Images website

PAULA S.jpgPaula Scher from Pentagram is one of graphic design’s luminaries, shaping America’s visual language – and in particular the branding of many of New York City’s acclaimed cultural institutions – for nearly 40 years.

For Adelaide-based design and communications agency Rodeo, getting Scher to feature in their latest project for Getty Images was a coup.

‘A Letter from Paula Scher’ is the first in a series of short films featuring the world’s leading creatives talking about their own influences, experiences and insights on visual language.

Airing on Getty Images’ 27 Letters website, which is also the work of Rodeo, the films are a natural extension to the website’s exploration of current visual trends setting the global visual conversation.

Says Rodeo’s creative director Tobin Lush, who directed the short film: “We were looking for people who not just pioneered thinking, but were able to share this in a meaningful and authentic way. Paula is charismatic in person, her work today is still at the cutting edge.”

Others on the radar for the series include Australia’s David Droga (now New York based), neo-pop artist Jeff Koons and UK fashion maverick Vivienne Westwood.

Rodeo worked with New York’s A76 Productions to shoot the film, while post-production was handled in Adelaide. Working globally from Adelaide doesn’t faze Rodeo.

Lush continues: “We’ve created and managed some of Getty’s most successful global campaigns from here. With content based engagement we extend the brand while driving online visitation and sales revenue. At times we’ve delivered initiatives in up to 7 languages, across 36 countries. We also do national and USA-specific campaigns, like ones for the financial services and consumer goods industries.”
