Ad Impact, Perth’s tactical ad for Midalia Steel highlights a good reason to have a pool fence

According to Royal Life Saving, 314 people drowned in Australia in the 12 months to June this year – the highest number for seven years.
Men accounted for 80 per cent of the deaths, and half of all children aged under four who drowned died in backyard swimming pools.
The birth of a child is the only time when parents become acutely aware of child safety and how fragile kids can be.
To bring home the importance of pool fences in an impactful, engaging and relevant way Ad Impact, Perth placed the message from Midalia Steel right next to the birth announcements in The West Australian.

For me, there’s a bit of a link missing.
I thought that if you had a pool you had to have a fence by law and not because
you have kids now….?
I also think the line falls a bit flat. Good try though.

You haven’t thought this through. Who is looking at death notices? And who is looking at birth notices? Who has someone to protect? It’s called a target audience, ya dickhead.
