Aussie public urged to take charge of spending in new eftpos campaign by M&C Saatchi, Sydney
eftpos has unfurled a campaign by M&C Saatchi, Sydney that puts Australians back in control of their own spending. The campaign features a hero TVC that will be supported with an extensive roll-out of POS across key merchants.
TV debuted nationally last night with a 60-second brand commercial. It positions eftpos users in control of their own money. Each eftpos user is portrayed as a king, symbolizing the power they have over their financial destiny. The concept was borne out of the current financial reality.
Amid an uncertain global economic context Australians are recovering from a debt binge and saving more than they have for 20 years. In spite of a decline in credit card volumes and record low usage, 73% of Australians with credit cards continue to roll over their balances each month, paying interest as a result.
In these uncertain times people strive for control and certainty with their spending and eftpos offers that. The take-out: That eftpos users pay with their own money and spend only what they have.
eftpos Head of Marketing Neera Manawakul said: “We all want to have control over our finances. This campaign is about taking command by using your own money.
“People are looking for simple things to stay on top and eftpos’ one-touch chq and sav buttons is a simple way to be in control. That’s why ‘eftpos is the way Australia pays’.”
M&C Saatchi Executive Creative Director Ben Welsh said the need to control money is something virtually everyone can relate to, especially in today’s economic climate: “The crown motif is a brutally simple articulation of how eftpos users are afforded control over their money, so they can in turn afford the things they need in life”.

The smartest thing you’ve done is direct traffic from here to the website so that the client thinks there are more people visiting.
Great stuff. Credits?
hope they asked TBWA circa 1998 for permission to blatantly rip off sony Playstation ‘Double Life’
Most people use credit cards and don”t pay them because Australia is so bloody expensive. No idiot would choose to use credit card rather than debit card it”s just the money isn”t spare to most.
I believe that a real opportunity to alter behaviour has been wasted here by dressing up some people with crowns and preaching at them. get out of the early 90”s!
burger king meets playstation.
construct is identical to this

Long winded, self indulgent, cringe fest that totally misses the point of the product.
‘eftpos is the way Australia pays’
who in their right mind would use their own money to pay? (eftpos chq & sav)
credit cards give you up to 55 days free cash flow
Yep, it’s the Playstation commercial done by Ed and Will but with crowns on.
Whenever I see this ad I think it’s for Burger King
What the hell is wrong with bloody cash, FFS.
It pisses me off waiting for folks paying with plastic… what should take less than ten seconds can take up to thirty. Some folks might object to my objection on the grounds it’s only twenty seconds… but add that up over a lifetime, and perhaps you can see why it makes me hopping mad, particularly since I’m waiting for this parasitic EFTPOS mob to skim off someone who seems to think cash is dangerous or inconvenient or something equally retarded.
If I ran a cash register, I’d make the plastic-payers wait for those with actual money to make their transactions.
