Aussie shops Integer and Arc Worldwide score at 2011 MAA Worldwide Globes in Rio de Janeiro
Australian agencies have taken out two GLOBES at last night’s international MAA GLOBES Awards, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In addition, two silver awards and six orders of merits were presented to Australian agencies.
APMA Star Awards Grand Prix winner Integer Australia took out a GLOBE for its ‘My Car is Your Car’ campaign for client NRMA insurance.
Arc Worldwide Australia took out a GLOBE for its Lifebuoy campaign for Unilever. The promotion successfully launched Unilever’s new Lifebuoy hand sanitizer and generated a 13.7% value share.
The NRMA campaign centered on NRMA’s point of difference as covering anyone driving the insured car and saw a 25% increase in sales calls over the promotion period.
General Manager of Integer Georgia Bruton commented on the win: “It’s an absolute honor to be a Globe winner. I feel it is definitely recognition of all the hard work, commitment and love for great creative ideas from clients, partners and the team. Exciting times.”
Head of Promotional Marketing Leo Burnett, Glenys Carey said: “We were thrilled with our win at the APMA Star Awards and now we’re ecstatic that this campaign has gone on to win a Globe. It’s a great result for our team and also our client.”
Shining Star Marketing and Events Australia took out a Silver GLOBE for Parmalat Australia’s ‘Paul’s 70th birthday’, while Clemenger BBDO & Clemenger Fusion took out a Silver award for its previously lauded Support Scent campaign for Guide Dogs Australia.
“Australia has consistently performed well in the annual GLOBES and this year is no exception. Especially in light of the increasing rise of Asian entries and the stiff competition from US agencies this year, our region has performed well with a total of two GLOBES, two Silvers and six Orders of Merit, said David Lo, Chairman of APMA, a subsidiary of the Communications Council.
On the awards night Mike Da Silva, from MDSA Sydney, MAA GLOBES VP, former MAA Globes President and APMA Star Awards Lifetime Achievement winner in 2009, was recognized for his achievements in the Promotion industry, and inducted into the MAA Worldwide Hall of Fame. David Ploughman, President of MAA Worldwide praised him for his professional standing and career achievements and said Mike represented the ‘best of the best’ in our industry”.
48 GLOBES, Silver and Bronze Certificates, as well as Orders of Merit in 16 Entry Categories, were announced at the 26th annual MAA GLOBES Award Ceremony at the Copacabana Palace, Rio de Janeiro. 150 judges from 23 Countries, representing agencies, clients, academia, media and industry associations carried out the 2011 Judging process.
Arc Worldwide, USA with their campaign “Arm Yourself for the Ones You Love.” for Client Walgreens, won the GLOBE for the Best of the Best in the World. The promotion repositioned flu shots as a way to protect loved ones and prompted 5.4 million people customers to get their flu shots at Walgreens over a period of just five weeks.

well done Cimo
Hey Cimo well done. Hope you get the credit and praise you deserve.
Well done Cimo, Marco, Karl, Cam and the Whybin/TBWA/Tequila team.
Why are you guys praising Cimo and Whybin/TBWA Tequila? According to the article this is an Integer campaign. Sure it was created before Integer started in Sydney, but I suspect Integer is actually a formula for time travel.
What the fuck are the Globes?
You are not confused, you are an idiot.Whybins did the campaign which was utilized by Integer who are the brand new promotional activation division of the Whybin TBWA group.Keep up will ya!
I am an idiot. But also an Integer competitor. So I know they didn’t exist when this campaign ran. Well done Whybins, but Integer should admit the retrospective nature of their gloating.
Yes you are still an idiot.Whybins bought Integer in to engage this campaign at a shopper activation level. They did so beautifully and are now a necessary part of the Whybin TBWA group. Now get back to your white pad and do some work.
