Brisbane Heat is one of 8 teams making up the new Big Bash League – a city based Twenty20 Cricket format designed to bring new energy into the sport and appeal to a wider audience.  Australian legend and Queensland ambassador Matthew Hayden will join the strong Brisbane Heat line-up, with the game season running from December through January.

Together with social media, community management, content production, print and brand design work, experiential and guerrilla, Pusher will also be developing the launch TV campaign.  The TV will go to air on October 15.

Says Kim Hopwood, managing director, Pusher: “The client saw social media as central to their strategy and contacted us.  Initially we were only pitching for the social media management, however after we presented our ideas and execution, we were invited to pitch for the entire creative account.”

Andrew McShea, marketing manager Brisbane Heat said: “When we began planning for the launch of the Brisbane Heat we needed an agency who genuinely understands digital, is uniquely creative and is down to earth.  An agency that just gets things done! Having worked with Pusher previously the decision to engage them to launch the Heat brand was simple. Pusher work day to day as a seamless extension of the Heat marketing team and are proving the power of extending a digital strategy above the line.”

Adds Hopwood: It’s a sign of the times to see digital agencies gain a new level of trust with their clients, who now feel confident in charging them with full creative duties. We are extremely excited to help create this new sports brand and work with icons like Matty Hayden. Along with the opening of our Brisbane office we are buzzing to say the least.”

With this latest new business win acting as the tipping point, Pusher’s Brisbane office in Newstead will service their existing Queensland client roster which includes Capilano Honey, Goodlife Health Clubs and Dreamworld.

In the interim Hopwood will relocate from Sydney to run the Brisbane office and will spend the next few months building a local team to lead the agency in the future.
