Innocean goes backwards for Hyundai’s new Accent compact car ‘Reverse’ ad campaign
Hyundai Motor Company Australia has launched the all-new Accent compact car with an integrated communications campaign created by Innocean Australia, Sydney.
The new campaign entitled ‘Reverse’, targets young male buyers with a TVC that showcases the Accent driving in a world that quite literally, is in reverse. Inspired by the class leading inclusion of a reverse camera, this latest campaign continues to build momentum around the Hyundai brand, the world’s fastest growing automotive group.
Says Oliver Mann, Marketing Director, Hyundai: “New Accent consolidates Hyundai’s presence at the top-end of the light car segment, offering premium levels of style, space and safety. The launch campaign plays on the Accent’s strong visual appeal, as well as the availability of a reverse camera, through the invitation to ‘change your view of the world’.
Says Scott Lambert, creative director, Innocean: “The all-new Accent’s ‘In-Mirror Reverse Camera’ feature is unique for a car in this category, and hence, an equally unique concept was required. The ‘Reverse’ TVC is intriguing, memorable and highly watchable.”
The campaign, which launched last night, runs across a range of media including television, radio, print and online.

Some nice production (although the coffee/window wiping part looked pretty forced and average)..Not sure about the strategy though; is being able to see an assortment of random everyday urban things really much of a benefit?
A step backwards for hyundai
TIHS
There must be more you can do with a reverse camera brief than play things in reverse.
I like it. Much more than the grandmaster flash one.

Yeah it’s ok, although I struggle to see the insight, the world is moving backwards whilst Hyundai is moving forwards maybe? I just feel that a car such as this should go for on box, like cheap and efficient, or cheap and comfortable. If you look at the bud or guiness ad evolution in reverse a few years back that was cool. 5/10 for me
Nice one mate – are they your prized white pigeons?
I thought Innocean were starting to do some nice stuff, then this?

true. not great.
shit is this official it’s on move
And in which decade have we not seen the ‘world in reverse’ film technique as replacement for genuine, cut-through creative?
This is a ‘me too’ idea from a client with its own mediocre ad agency.
A dreadful spot, compared to the Dutch ad for the same brand that’s also on this site for comment.
it’s ok.
a backward step for the brand
I liked it. Got my attention, made it clear what the feature was, and was interesting. Nice direction too. Oh, sorry, I forgot, you’re only allowed to slag off ads in this forum, my bad.
Film Every Ad in Reverse
the conceptual process of this spot:
ok, so it has reverse camera……..ummmmm……..ummmmm……..ummmmmm……I know, why don’t we do the ad in reverse. Brilliant!……..Let’s film it…….. In reverse, yeah???
Yeah…….in reverse, cause it has reverse camera.
Great concept… execution could have been better!
Very clean and precise execution. Perhaps a bit dull as a result?
If this had been made in 1989 it would have been great.
But for me right now; dated, dull, and no idea.
