Publicis Mojo’s ‘Pure Waters’ wins the Grand Prix in TV/Cinema/Digital at Clio Awards in New York
Publicis Mojo Sydney’s ‘Pure Waters’ commercial for Boag’s Draught has won the Grand Prix in television/Cinema Digital at the Clio Awards, presented in New York tonight, the first time Australia has achieved this feat.
Additionally, Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney won a Gold Clio in print and a Bronze in poster for Pedestrian Council of Australia’s ‘Kill a Kid, Kill a Family: The Smith Family’.
Mojo Sydney ECD Micah Walker told CB: “I’d be lying if I said we weren’treally proud and appreciative of how well it’s been doing around theworld. Every show we’ve put it in, it’s brought home Gold and that’s arare thing to be a part of for anyone. A big thanks to Lion Nathan forbeing brave and trusting and to Steve and Revolver for helping us bringit to life.”
Also in the television category, Australian agencies picked up three Bronze Clios for 303, Publicis Mojo and Droga5. In Direct, Bronze went to Leo Burnett Sydney and DDB Sydney. In Print, Bronze also went to The Furnace, Sydney.
For New Zealand agencies, Colenso BBDO Auckland won Gold, Silver and Bronze in the television/cinema/digital category for New Zealand Book Council’s ‘Going West’. In the Billboard category, Colenso won Bronze for Road Safety’s ‘Bleeding Billboard’. In radio, two Bronze Clios went to Clemenger BBDO, Wellington for Road Safety’s ‘It’s Your Call’.
‘Going West’ was the result of eight months’ work by Colenso BBDO and London’s Andersen
M Studios, and uses hand cut pop-up scenery to bring to life an excerpt from the
Maurice Gee novel.
Colenso’s ECD Nick Worthington says it is always great to take out a top international award from New Zealand.
“It was great to see the Going West film, which brought to life a classic piece of New
Zealand literature, gain such huge global traction on-line, becoming a YouTube hit and
reaching the worldwide top 10 in the viral video charts,” says Worthington. “It was viewed online more than 788,000 times, inspired more than 3400 tweets on Twitter or blog posts worldwide, and reached number 8 in the Viral Video Chart compiled by Unruly Media.”
These latest awards follow its two golds in the 2010 AXIS Awards and
the Grand Prize from the New York Museum of Art and Design’s Moving Paper festival.

Congrats again mojo – great seeing and ad thats on TV all the time pick up golds everywhere.
How it should be, but sadly not enough clients have the good instincts/trust to let the agency do their job. This is hopefully another ad that will have other marketing managers wanting similar work.
I need to dip my brochure copy into that water and pull out a Skittles script.
Awesome! Congrats guys, well deserved.
NOt at all surprised. It’s a ripper.
I wonder what would come out if we dipped this blog into that water.
Congrats, great work, well deserved indeed.
Grow up 2:19.
Agencies are as guilty as clients for producing crap. Marketing is littered with the bodies of marketing people who trusted their agencies.
Now back to the ad. Fabulous work, bordering on perfect. Congrats to all involved.
Clio has been pretending to be an award of note for about 50 years. It’s never had the cred of say, The One Show, Cannes or D&AD.
It was always the easy one to win and serious award hunters never rated it.
Is it actually a prestigious award yet?
On the basis of Pure Water’s success in every show (inc. 4 noms at D&AD) it’d be fair to say that it was unlucky not to take out the big one in Cannes. Probably as close as Australia will get for some while too.
Congrats, extremely well deserved, and I’m sure there’ll be plenty more gold coming. Farkin’ ripper of a spot.
Boag’s won Gold at all of those too 4:10
(4 nominations yet to be decided at D&AD).
Absolute cracker of a spot and absolute cracker blokes.
Well done!
Well done guys – well deserved win!
Of course lightsaber was going to win.

Here’s a different perspective:

I see his point. Much as I like the Boags ad, it is still more a beautifully executed obvious idea than something startling.
I too would have put Old Spice, Dos Equis and Skittles above it. They are forward-worthy, whereas Boags is more a tip of the hat.
Having said that, the gongs it has won (and will continue to win) indicate most good judges think otherwise.
Really is primo stuff.
Hats off.
