5 Gold, 9 Silver, 10 Bronze to Australia at New York International Advertising Awards
New York Festivals, now in its 53rd year, presented the 2010 International Advertising Awards at a spectacular series of events held on the weekend in Shanghai, China. The three day festival was held at the Shanghai Theatre Academy and Sino ADI’s state-of-the-art advertising and marketing center.
Australia scored five Gold, nine Silver and ten Bronze at the awards, led by Publicis Mojo, Sydney with two Gold (for Boag’s ‘Pure Waters’ and Vicks Vapodrops ‘The Beatbox Choir’), George Patterson Y&R, Melbourne, with Gold (Navy ‘The Fleet’) and Silver (Picnic ‘It’s no Picnic), Lowe Sydney with two Silver and two Bronze (all for Football Federation Australia) and Leo Burnett, Sydney with two Silver and one Bronze (all for WWF ‘Vote Earth’). Gold also went to Colman Rasic Carrasco, Sydney (MTV Exit Foundation ‘The Killers, Love Story’) and to Steve Rogers at Revolver for Direction (Boag’s ‘Pure Waters’).
Procter & Gamble was named Advertiser of the Year, Young &Rubicam was awarded Agency Network of the Year Award; Jung von Matt,Hamburg was honored with the Agency of the Year Award; Mortierbrigade,Brussels was awarded Boutique Agency of the Year.
The AgencyNetwork of the Year and Agency of the Year are prestigious honorspresented to the company that produces the finest calibre of work andthe company that garners the most awards in the competition. Young& Rubicam was honored last night with the title of Agency Networkof the Year receiving a total of nine Gold World Medals, thirteenSilver medals, a UNDPI Silver Award, fifteen Bronze medals, fifty threeFinalist Certificates and a UNDPI Finalist Award from all of Young& Rubicam’s worldwide offices. Jung von Matt, Hamburg was awardedthe Agency of the Year Award for their stellar work. The Hamburg agencyreceived ten Gold World Medals, seven Silver, ten Bronze, and nineteenFinalist Certificates.

The Boutique Agency of the Year isbased on high scoring entries and is selected from companies that arenot affiliated with any agency networks and have less than 75employees. Mortierbrigade of Brussels, Belgium was awarded BoutiqueAgency of the Year Award, the agency received three Gold World Medals,three Bronze, and three Finalist Certificates.
The New YorkFestivals Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to internationaladvertising icons Akira Kagami, Global Executive Creative Director ofDentsu, Japan, and Graham Warsop, Founder and Chief Creative Officer ofThe Jupiter Drawing Room (South Africa) & Partners for theirlandmark contributions to the advertising industry.
The GrandTrophy Awards were selected from the top scoring Gold Medalists in allcategories by the 2010 GrandJury. In 2010, NewYork Festivals announced the merger of the Innovative AdvertisingAwards with New York Festivals International Advertising Awardsallowing winners of both award shows to be honored together at NYF’sAwards Ceremony in Shanghai.
The Innovative Advertising Awardspresented the Grand Trophy to Forsman & Bodenfors of Gothenburg,Sweden for “Facebook Showroom” for client IKEA. The jury awardedInnovative Advertising winners a total of seventeen Gold Medals,seventeen Silver, twenty-six Bronze and ninety-four FinalistCertificates. Leo Burnett Sydney received two Silver Awards and one Bronze, all for WWF ‘Vote Earth’.
There were also two student winners from Australia: Brendan Graham from QUT, Brisbane received a Silver Award for “Your Life Soundtrack” for the London Philharmonic. And Jake Barrow of Armadale garnered a Finalist Award for “The Reverse Supermarket” for the Charity – Feed the Hungry
