This year’s Young Lotus teams will represent the following cities: Auckland, Bangkok, Beijing, Colombo, Dhaka, Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kathmandu, Karachi, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Mumbai, Seoul, Singapore Taipei, and Tokyo.

But organisers are still hopeful that a young Australian team will compete. Companies interested in sponsoring a team should email jimmy@adfest.com for details.

“The future of our industry depends on how we invest in the present. At JWT, we believe in investing our resources in shaping young hungry talented creative people who have a strong desire to make a big difference in the way they conceptualize and create campaigns,” says Tay Guan Hin, Regional ECD, JWT Southeast Asia and Global ECD of Lux.

“We strongly hope that this program will give birth to many bright stars who will create groundbreaking work that will lead the world of communication,” says Guan Hin, who is Chairperson of the Young Lotus Workshop 2012.

Vinit Suraphongchai, Chairman of the ADFEST Working Committee, says the Young Lotus Workshop is designed to nurture the next generation of advertising leaders.

“It is essentially a scholarship for the young creative who are the future of creativity, supported by 3 parties: the host agency network, local representative in each market, and ADFEST.  So the young creatives gain the invaluable experience at no cost to themselves.” he says.

“It is, as can be imagined, a highly popular and successful program that we’re very proud of.  JWT Asia Pacific will definitely put the participants to the challenge, and to these participants, I’d like to say, ‘If you survive it, you will be the guests of ADFEST for the next three days. Make the most of your time here, for it is a unique experience’.”

The Young Lotus Workshop is a two-and-a-half day workshop, where participants will enjoy lectures and mentoring from JWT’s top executives, before being presented with a live brief, just 24-hours to make the deadline and to make sure the young creatives have all the help they can get, Getty Images will provide images, stock footage, as well as audio tracks to all the participants.

The Young Lotus teams who create the best ideas or campaign will appear in front of a live audience at ADFEST on Sunday 18th March, 12pm in the ‘JWT Asia Pacific Presents Young Lotus 2012 Final Showdown’.

Delegates will also vote for their favorite team to determine the winner of the Young Lotus Popular Vote.  The winning teams will also be awarded at an Awards Ceremony that night.
