Campaign Brief Poll: Which party will you vote for at the Federal Election on September 7?

UPDATED – The Federal election is now underway and CB would love to know how its bloggers will vote.
With just under 600 votes cast so far, the Libs lead with 45%, followed by Labor on 29% and the Greens with 19%. 5% have chosen Other and 2% Independent.
Will this trend continue until tonight? If you haven’t yet voted, do so today.

Surely it’s way too early to vote in the CB poll. We haven’t seen the highly persuasive, original and unexpected ad campaigns and of course we’re all completely politically neutral to start with.
You don’t need to watch Madmen to realise that the creative side of the ad industry, and let’s just call it the business side have always been at opposite ends of the political spectrum, while working under the same roof.
From the percentages reflected in the poll here, as well as the conservative bent of the comments, it’s also easy to understand just how much the creatives have been undermined in the industry locally, and how staunchly right wing that advertising and media in general have become here in Australia.
It wasn’t always this way, but as is so evident in the work itself, on far too many levels, the accountants have taken over the creative workplace, and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change in the foreseeable future.
Appalling to see how many bloggers are Liberals. Shame on you.
i thought this was an advertising blog. it used to be. sometimes it seems anything but.
The fact that you see advertising as somehow separated from the world of politics, and a political election that will buy millions of dollar in media somehow a taboo subject for an ad industry blog, just may be the real problem, tom.
Under Liberal, self funded retirees do better. Under Labour, arts, music and culture do better. But under a hung parliament, all we’ve had is rubbish, it’s not Labors fault every decent policy has been blocked and the less decent were let through in a ‘set up to fail’ way of undermining the government (and regaining power for Gollum at any cost).
There’s a real dilemma here though. A vote for Labor will mean we get Liberal Lite, a vote for Liberal will mean we get fascism and every bad thing that will happen to this economy (it’s happening already) will be blamed on the previous government.
Which is why I’m voting donkey.
John, don’t forget the ad industry has a lot of suits. They’re all private school, LNP voting cunce.
The results so far are uncannily like the current vote spread in NZ. Could it be that the Aussie Ad industry is actually a microcosm of the NZ public? And does that mean that the comments on the CB blog reflect more accurately than any research group the general feel of the NZ populace towards a campaign? Does a comment like “Shite” then have far more gravitas than the embittered desperation and pain that one would assume?
