Leo Burnett Melbourne’s ‘BYO Cup’ wins Mobius Best of Show in New Media + FSM’s ‘Somewhere’ wins Best of Show in Cinema/In-Flight category
Leo Burnett Melbourne and FSM Sydney have walked away from the Mobius Awards as Best of Show (Grand Prix) winners in the 2012 competition.
The works came from creatives in five countries, Australia, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and France. Mobius Awards has been in operation since 1971, and this year attracted entrants from 24 countries.
Leo Burnett Melbourne won Best of Show in the New Media category for ‘BYO Cup Day’ for the Slurpee 7-Eleven drink. When Australians were invited to bring their own cup to collect a Slurpee, some selected large vessels, such as a five-gallon water jar. The campaign was designed to change the “idea of a cup” for the 7-Eleven drink. Jason Williams was creative director on the project. The art director was James Orr, and copywriters were Andrew Woodhead, Elle Bullen and Eamonn Dixon. Arl Sztal and Tony Le were account executives while Julie Laycock represented 7-Eleven. Special credits included Rodeo, Melbourne, for Digital/Social Build; Haystac, Melbourne, for public relations and OMD for media.
Says Williams: “I am proud of the entire team for this outstanding result at the International Mobius Awards. This sort of thinking has transformed the way we and our brilliant 7 Eleven client approach ideas. That’s the ultimate award!”
FSM won Best of Show in the Cinema/In-Flight category for their “Somewhere” campaign for Animals Australia. The film allows factory farmed animals to speak for a kinder world and has a “Babe” -like character to do it. The film features “Peanut,” a pig that escapes from a factory farm. The film took viewers to a real factory farm and asks viewers to “imagine a world without factory farming.” FSM managing director is Rick Schweikert. FSM Creative Director Andreas Wanda said the project was ideal for the company’s animation and 3D capabilities.

The most impressive thing about the BYO Cup Day was that the agency managed to have a video camera in every store around the country to record how captivate the nation was.
