St Vincent de Paul launches film by Matthew Talbot Homeless Services client Roy Faamatala at Dendy Cinemas Opera Quays via GPY&R Sydney

George Patterson Y&R Sydney has partnered with the St Vincent de Paul Society to produce a documentary called ‘A place like this’ made by former Matthew Talbot Homeless Services client, Roy Faamatala.

Last night’s exclusive pre-screening held at Dendy Cinemas Opera Quays first showcased the truly touching documentary – chronicling the trials, tribulations and successes of storytellers Roy, Krystal, Keith, Jon, Maria and Gabriel, six people experiencing homelessness.

Russel Howcroft was among the viewer’s last night.

Says Howcroft: “It was a privilege to attend the pre-screening of the GPY&R produced short film directed by former Matthew Talbot client, Roy Faamatala. The Sydney Patts Y&R team has put many months of passion into the project and their expertise has contributed to producing a purposeful and beautiful little film for the St Vincent de Paul Society.”

Filmmaker, Faamatala believes the documentary provides a voice for people who have fallen through the cracks into homelessness.

Says Faamatala: “This film actually tells the story of the many thousands of people who have nowhere to call home. It is their voice and shows that homelessness doesn’t discriminate. In the wrong set of circumstances it can be a scary reality for anyone at any time.”

Says Michael Perusco, St Vincent de Paul Society NSW CEO: “The film is a great demonstration of the collaboration between the Society’s Matthew Talbot Homeless Services, George Patterson Y&R Sydney and TAFE NSW. It is a testament to the importance of education and learning as part of the solution to homelessness.”
