Publicis Mojo chief creative officer Craig Davis set to depart in March; Clemenger BBDO’s Michael Dole to take head of art role in New Year
Craig Davis, chief creative officer of Publicis Mojo Australia and New Zealand, has resigned from the business to focus on creativity and innovation in a wider business context.
Davis joined Mojo in June 2009, six months after departing the worldwide creative director role at JWT.
Says Davis: “I’ve enjoyed my time at Mojo, it’s a formidable creative company with great clients and wonderful people, but I’m passionate about applying design thinking and creativity to some new challenges.”
Says Joe Pollard: “I want to thank Craig for his enormous contribution to the business over the last three years and wish him the very best for the future. He has been a great contributor to the creative leadership of Mojo and within the industry.”
Davis will leave Mojo at the end of March, 2013.
Pim Van Nunen will continue to lead the creative department of Publicis Mojo in Sydney.
Adding to the creative strength in the Sydney office, Michael Dole (left) will join the agency at the end of January as head of art, as reported earlier by CB, partnering with Ian Williamson as head of copy. Dole has an impressive portfolio of work and experience. In the past he has worked at Clemenger Sydney, working across all accounts with notable work on Foxtel, V Energy Drink, Toshiba and the recent brand launch for Virgin Australia “The romance is back”. Dole has also spent time at Wieden + Kennedy in Amsterdam.
Says Dole: “I’m really looking forward to joining an international team who have a genuinely unique and exciting way of working in this market. I’ve always admired Pim and Ian’s work and I can’t wait to start making stuff together.”
To add to the digital experience within the agency, Shaun O’Connor (left) will join the agency at the end of January as a creative technologist. O’Connor will partner with existing creative teams to be of voice of digital and technology within the creative process. O’Connor comes to Mojo from TBWA/Tequila.
Says O’Connor: “I’m really looking forward to joining Pim, Joe and the growing team at Mojo in the New Year and can’t wait to get stuck in and start making things with the great clients the agency is working with.”

He’s walking away
“I’m walking away…”

with someone’s hand firmly pressed against his back
Oh well, he will be there until March so he has still got time to get a decent idea up.
Of course if he’s not there until March it will look like like an execution.
Couldn’t be though could it?
where’s he gonna go?
Couldn’t be paying the price for that awful Qantas crap could he?
Is that the reason he is flying?
Look up, look up is that a flying ECD?
“Is that a dagger I see before me?” No Craig it is behind you.
Looks like that karma thing does work after all.

That’s made my Christmas.
I taught him everything he knows
…after “chasing away” the previous CD’s who built Mojo’s creative reputation over the past 5 years, looks like Craig got his karma.
I resemble that remark Omar
Great guy. Great talent.
They just couldn’t afford to pay him anymore.
A few years ago, maybe about four, I went to a cracking Mojo Melbourne Christmas Party. Clients, staff and suppliers. Great night. What’s happening in Melbourne this year?
Congrats Doley! Great man, great craftsman.
few weeping, many smiling
a cautionary tail about the will to power poisoning the will to creativity
Congrats Shaun. One of the few that can truly claim the title Creative Technologist.
the french didn’t like how many zeros came after his name….
This certainly wasn’t voluntary. Wholesale changes at Mojo. Hopefully the clearout means better times ahead.
