Great idea. Let’s hope some of the other old advertising crafts are revived, like writing engaging and entertaining advertising.
Oh, and while you’re at it, try teaching a few art directors how to draw.
Razor, “Old advertising craft”. WTF. Typography is a cornerstone of great art direction. Maybe this country has lost it, but not OS. Still great type coming out of the UK.
Unfortunately anyone with InDesign now thinks they’re a typo. That is the problem.
Well said Rod!. Remember when anyone with a Mac thought they were a designer? Set the business back 20 years…
I broke my arm and they set it in Franklin Gothic.
@Razor
A good Art Director doesn’t need to draw.
No Jim, a good art director doesn’t NEED to draw, it just makes communicating what he’s talking about that much easier.
‘Spose a riter don’t need no grammer either…
@Razor
Get over yourself. If you can’t communicate it verbally, you not doing your job right.
Teleport: Copout.
Razor: Really?
Different brushstrokes for different folks, I suppose.
Remember, even a constipated math tutor has to work it out with a pencil.
Surely there’s an app to do this sort of thing, really hand lettering?

Fuck off razor 🙂
“A good Art Director doesn’t need to draw!” — “he doesn’t need to know how to design either” You gotta have a beard tho– no beard, no entry sorry — unless you’re a chick in that case a beard might be a bit awkward. Oh i just remembered there are no good female art director so the beard rule is still in play.
Just kidding ladies, we all know those libra pads ads don’t write themselves 😀
