PayPal launches InstaKringle.com.au in new campaign via Dynamix and We Are Social
Office Kris Kringle season is on again and the prospect of buying a lame gift for someone you hardly know is far from exciting. In fact, it’s positively dull, like a grey-knit vest. That’s why PayPal is bringing the happy back to office gift-giving with InstaKringle.com.au.
Developed for PayPal by Sydney-based Dynamix and We Are Social, the site helps you select the perfect gift for all manner of office types, like the ‘Gentlemanly Bikie Socialite’ or the ‘Elegant Corporate Extrovert’. With a host of great gifts to choose from, like Boris, the remote control Tarantula, there’s something to suit everyone – even that weird guy in accounts. And of course, purchasing is quick and easy thanks to PayPal.
To help spread the Kringle joy, Dynamix created five short videos of the ‘top 5’ gifts. Each showcases the product as an absolutely-irrefutable-gift-of-undeniable-awesomeness that could dramatically change everyday office life.

The InstaKringle.com.au website will be promoted via targeted press and radio ads, digital office and café screens in CBD locations across Australia to reach office workers in the lead up to Christmas and customised online banners for desktop, tablet and mobile. Research commissioned by PayPal revealed 44% of Aussies don’t like their Kris Kringle present and one in five re-gift them. Despite half of Aussies finding the Kris Kringle shop stressful, just as many dedicate only a limited amount of energy to it. The most startling fact is over a third of office workers try to switch their Kris Kringle recipient because they have no idea who their colleague is.
So, no more agonising over what to buy, or spending pointless hours looking for something under twenty bucks that won’t have HR on your case the next day. With InstaKringle.com.au you can give the office Kris Kringle the amount of time and effort it deserves, about 8.5 seconds. There’s even ‘print your own’ wrapping paper and gift tags, so you’ll have everything you need for a very happy Kris Kringle.
Says Ryan Hill, Dynamix Executive Creative Director: “The team had a ball developing this campaign. Looking at the office stereotypes and matching them to brilliant gifts, like a remote control flying shark has been a lot of fun. Hopefully we’ve helped turn something usually boring and potentially awkward into a great experience that will give you a bit of a giggle. We are looking forward to seeing the results and which gifts people buy”.
Says Juliet Mackenzie, Head of Brand and Consumer Marketing at PayPal: “The Instakringle activity is one of a number of campaigns we are currently running in the lead up to Christmas to ensure we have presence during the busiest shopping period of the year. We have worked with some of our 60,000 Australian retail partners to create a website that offers a range of quirky gifts for under $30, which can be purchased quickly, easily and securely via PayPal. The concept Dynamix has developed has truly delivered on fun, engagement and peoples panic come office Kris Kringle time.”

Initiative might be good, but those videos are so bad.
I reckon the videos are the best bit! Made me chuckle.
Not sure how many people will be playing around with the mini-site though…
Oh dear.
