The purpose of the campaign is to drive traffic to the asbestosawareness.com.au website – created by Insight – where people can find out where asbestos can be found in and around the home and how to manage it safely.

Insight retained the Cabana Boys to create the ad concept and ads for community service announcements. There is no paid placement. The ad component is part a campaign which includes a strategic media campaign, stakeholder engagement, online marketing, a fundraising component, multiple media events and with a specific focus on the new purpose built model house called ‘Betty – The ADRI House’ which will be launched on Sunday 25th of November which will travel around to educate the community about asbestos in the home.

In addition, on behalf of the client, Insight will be lighting the sails of the Sydney Opera House Blue as a tribute to all those who have lost their lives to asbestos while at the same time, raising awareness of the dangers of asbestos when renovating or maintaining homes.

The actors, with the exception of a few dollars to cover their expenses, undertook to work on the project pro-bono as part of their contribution to the cause. The actors are Lindsay Farris (father) who also did the voiceover work, Katherine Shearer (mother), Ruby Thompson (daughter), and Toby Challenor (son).

The campaign is backed by an independent group made up of representatives from corporate, community and government sectors.
