Good talent and direction.
Let’s see, not funny, not clever, not well cast, nor acted, nor directed (given the script that may have been too much to ask and difficult to tell), not well lit or photographed in any case, or graded, or art directed (propped really). It’s just all around retail right shite.
Sorry, but this is completely unredeemable, and for a brand that is so on the nose with the Aussie consumer that it really does need the help from some smart, well produced advertising.
That all being said, the same brand that has become synonymous with dropped calls, bad customer service, and one bar reception, was also the brand that chose the agency for their account, so . . .
Nice hard-working retail – and with an idea. Well done Rusty et al..
overacting big time, retail or not.
No Ho’s agency obviously didn’t win the Vodaphone pitch… sour grapes No Ho? Put that rage into creative energy on your next pitch.
Decent retail worth sticking your head over the parapet for.
Well done ladies and Alex.
…people like @NoHo would put their eloquence into writing original content for adland, or at the very least intelligent critiques of other people’s work.
You can clearly express an opinion. Why call someone’s work shit when you could be creating something?
**not my work/employer, I’m just really over the bullshit, tall-poppy comments on what could be a really great blog and someone needs to say something.
Alan Dukes is a hoot. Nice work girls.
We’re really over the bullshit from apologists for bad or at best mediocre work who use this blog as a PR exercise instead of a forum for reflecting on the quality, or lack thereof of what’s being put out in this territory.
When it’s genuinely good, say so, and when it’s shit, say that as well. Public opinion does matter, and perhaps a bit more candour in the social media space will push all of us to do better creatively.
Otherwise we risk turning this forum into a happy space for whatever, and the standards will continue to sink under the weight of the suit/accounts-driven creative environment.
By the way, the ‘tall poppy syndrome’ refers to the social phenomenon in which people or work of ‘genuine merit (are) resented, attacked, cut down, or criticised because their talents or achievements elevate them above or distinguish them from their peers.’
For the record, this Vodafone campaign is highly unlikely to elevate or distinguish anyone, so maybe it would be beneficial for you to understand the meaning of a term before you use it in public.
Very nice. Direction, cuts, graphics and all!
Just in from Perth? Adelaide? Somewhere without cable or internet?
We can only hope the NBN helps people with your condition.
Sorry for the lack of sensitivity. Maybe it was a long coma.
