I’m sure there’s an idea in there somewhere. Anyone?
s’rubbish
What would the script, if there was one, look like?
More shit from Clems Syd.
Great work Clems, beautiful spot!
I don’t really want to see loose parts of my plane flying around in the air.
It’s the glamour of air travel. It harks back to some not-to-distant time when flying was fun, adventurous and these people epitomised the glamour. It’s when you could smoke on the plane, bring in barrels of truly cheap Duty Free grog, and even slip food into the country without being menaced by Beagles.
CGI yawn fest.
…will be revealed in the other comments, I have no clue, sorry.
It’s old school and i fucking love it.
It made me want to fly virgin a crap load more than the crane shots.
It’s like a disastrous plane crash in reverse.
Awesome !
ummm…our amazing people are the difference between us and other airlines, so let’s make a spot showing an amazing plane for 40 seconds and then shoe-horn the people in at the end.
An ad for an airline that features tiny fragments of an aeroplane, not to mention its mechanical parts, flying through the air?
Seriously?
At an emotional level, surely that kind of imagery is the last thing you want to be implanting in passengers’ minds.
A contender for one of the worst airline ads ever made.
Credits? Who did the post on this?
What the fuck was that!
Great pre-vis. When are they going to finish the lighting on the CG?
Beautifully Done!
At the halfway mark, or it could be just 1st quarter *gulp*, the finalists are:
“Intelligent Comment” Category (comments up to and including 60 paragraphs)
FINALIST #1: “doubting thomas” at 5:49pm, for correctly pointing out that the ad is not fundamentally about “people” at all, and that these are just forced in at the end, based on an indecipherable strategy and messaging.
FINALIST #2: “Who Cooked This?” at 8:56pm, for correctly pointing out that the animation work is a bit crappy in places.
“From The Agency / Client / Still In AWARD School” Category
Several comments look like real contenders here, jury still in discussion.
“But It’s A Disaster…Movie” Category:
Anyone who said pieces of plane flying through the air is a bad thing to show gets a $50 I’m Way Too Literal book voucher, plus you get to write the screenplay.
Still not announced:
Best Use Of “Meh” Award, Generic Bitching On Auto-Pilot Award, and Watchoo Talking Bout, Willis? Award (Jack Russell, I reckon you’ve got one paw on the trophy already.)
I reckon they cribbed the plane assembly footage from an Airbus sales video .Then they just added the other stuff make what looks a bit like an ad on the cheap.
You don’t need credits, it’s just embarrassing for the guys. Plus it’s not the teams fault but the creative leadership of the agency…they sold it to the client.
Let’s face it though, if you were given the choice to fly Virgin or Qantas, who would you rather fly with?
Celebrating an airline for what they do best in a fun and inventive way, and people are taking the piss?
Seriously?
It’s a beautiful homage to the vintage wonders of air travel. and it reminds us that in a category ripe with seamy corporate underbellies and share market disasters, one airline still possesses the soul of airline travel.
In the words of Louie CK:
“Have you not partaken in the miracle of human flight? You non-contributing zero.”
Very retail….wouldn’t even make Air China inflight!
Nice stunt, well executed.
But where is the enduring campaign idea?
I cant believe that clients don;t demand an idea that’s campaignable.
Maybe wasting money is the big idea.
Best thing that’s caught my eye this Spring. Love it.
Great work guys – technically brilliant.
… Nice legs too.
Looks nice, zero idea. Makes me fink virgin is a bit spesh with that music n all. Then you fly Virgin and its the same as every other budget airline.
Yawn. It’s just boring. I nearly turned it off halfway through. It has no creative idea and nothing that makes me remember the ad, or make me feel like I should choose Virgin. Consumers will forget it 5 second after seeing it.
Surely Clems Sydney have a strong claim for worst creative agency in Australia.
They’re just taking the piss now.
First time I’ve seen the inflight safety video used the brand tvc.
A plane crash in reverse. Brilliant.
Reminded me of Young Talent Time, but without the dancing.
What a mid air disaster. The Qantas spots are looking like Gold compared to this plastic.
Held up entirely by the tune.
Lol. Imagine if Qantas had used, what’s left of, their staff? Lol
Wow if you could get this spot in magic hour on camera you would.
But why would you employ an expensive Vfx crew too make it look like noon! On a salt desert salt flat. Once again creative couldn’t stand up to client . I feel sorry for the director, the Vfx team and ultimately the client, creative do your job!
Brilliant! Me thinks the negative comments are posted the competition!
