FIN creates ‘The Void’ for TEDxSydney

Campaign Brief 385.pngFIN Design + Effects were approached by TEDxSydney to submit a proposal to produce some original work as a part of this year’s talks at Carriageworks in Sydney.

Using the conference’s core themes of ‘exploring ideas’ as a springboard, the team, under the guise of Phil Robson, FIN’s art director & designer, set about to create 5 x 30″ idents style films.

Says Robson: “TEDx is all about ideas, so the desire was to create a film about that. We loved the concept of visually illustrating the creative thought process – the journey to an idea, and everything in between.”

Each film took place in a different urban location, starting with a single black sphere known as “The Void”. Suspended in the air, it waits patiently for the ideas to start germinating. Exploding into sudden transformation as the creative ideas process kicks into action.

The films were all shot on 5D in and around Sydney and after going through initial animatic & styleframe development, were finally brought to life in CG with some 2D particle and compositing help. Adam Bozzetto composed all the original music for the films.
