Curious hosts co-branded pop-up cinema event tonight to screen cult tattoo doco Hori Smoku

Local music & sound design studio, Uncanny Valley, has joined sponsor Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum in support of tonight’s Curious Pop-Up Cinema at the iconic Paramount Building in Sydney’s Surry Hills.

The cinema will screen the cult tattoo documentary Hori Smoku, a film uncovering the foundations of tattooing in America and the man who made modern day tattooing a global phenomenon, Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins.

Says Peter Grasse, executive producer at Curious: “With the support of our sponsors tonight’s screening has evolved into a full blown happening. Following the film, Uncanny will sponsor Pat Capocci’s & Rod Almighty’s rockabilly rave, while Sailor Jerry will sponsor an exhibition of Norman Collins’ flash artwork along with a roller derby demo, clipper cuts from The Sterling Barbershop, arm-wrestling, and ship full of rum”.

Curious owns the distribution rights to an eclectic mix of indie films and is bringing content to Australasian audiences in unexpected ways. Last month, fashion retailer Incu partnered with Curious to host a rooftop screening of the award-winning documentary, Jiro Dreams of Sushi, distributed exclusively in Australia/NZ by Curious

Cinema doors open at 6:45pm. Film begins at 7pm.
