Circus Festival of Creativity kicks off Tuesday with opening address by MDC’s Faris Yakob
Next Tuesday morning 27th March, Circus 2012 will begin in Sydney’s Carriageworks.
The opening speech will be made by Faris Yakob, chief innovation officer at MDC Partners New York, who he will discuss his belief that now – more than ever – it is really important to be awesome.
Yakob believes that being awesome relies on the following critical factors:
The disruption of technology in our work
What cultural latency is and why it matters
Why proximity is a virtue
Why content is no longer sufficient, and that content that doesn’t spread is dead
A specific and salient definition of awesomeness, and why the future belongs to the most awesome.
To catch the speech, bookings can be made through the link below.
You can also see Yakob on March 29, when Rosie Siman (360i) and he will workshop the idea that ‘Genius Steals’. It will establish a structured framework for understanding and having ideas, a discussion around the evolution of briefs in an age of complexity, some scientific insights on how, and when, to use workshops, and a practical guide on curating knowledge for yourself and your agency.
And don’t forget that alongside Yakob, there are 8 other great speakers, sharing their experiences from the coalface, in addition to a big thinking day, where 15 heavyweights will pitch their ideas.

Faris is the coolest guy on the planet. He’s cooler than the offspring of an Ice-T, Dita Von Teese, Bob Marleys threesome.

Wow, sounds like he’ll be spinning a bunch of bullshit using jargon, buzz words, and his shitty haircut to smokescreen the fact that it’s all shit. All of it.

Fuck OFFFF. Give me a break. It’s important to be awesome? How long did it take him to come up with that groundbreaking insight?
Here’s hoping his address is better than this one by the way:
