Qantas pitch now down to a two-way shootout between Droga5 and Publicis Mojo; media buying stream between OMD and Zenith Optimedia
Qantas has shortlisted Droga5 and Publicis Mojo (includes Amnesia Razorfish) for the creative and digital part of its account from the original long list which included Leo Burnett and BWM – and according to one source, R/GA New York.
Media is a shootout between OMD and ZenithOptimedia, with MediaCom now out of the race.
If Droga5 are triumphant it will be a massive month after yesterday’s win of the $100m+ Woollies business.

Even before the pitch was announced, more than one source has told CB that Publicis Mojo would be favourite to win the lion’s share of the business, as hinted on the CB Blog back in August.
A final decision is expected later this month.

OMG Droga could become one of the biggest agencies in town by next week.
And Mojo one of the smallest
Enjoy!!!
I’d LOVE to see some consistently good advertising for Qantas – the airline has stuffed up so much, if they don’t get some good ads soon – they’ll be closing it down! Which would be a disaster given the amount of FF points I have to use up!!
Oh how quickly the tides turn ………would be great to see D5 get Qantas!
(Particularly as Publicis is wholly owned by the French now!!)
Surely not Mojo….bragging about it for 6 months now being in the bag!,,pitch a sham…
Go on qantas….noone worth having left at mojo…..c’mon Droga!!!
is droga the new m&c? they could do great things with those animals…throw optus in as well
And don’t forget the media pitch: “We’ll work in whatever channels Droga5 want and buy it cheaper.” Hard workers those media people.
Go with an Aussie agency QANTAS.
D5 – operated by Aussies, or people who are keen to be Aussies.
Yew!
Channel spanner – why dont u get ur facts straight and ask Qantas what “media” agency pushed Qantas so far that it got them reevaluating their creative pitch and dropping big guns such as Leo’s, BWM and in the early stages even DDB. Advertising is more than your headline copy wanker.
Always the same companies!!!
Cronyism, cronyism, cronyism
Let’s see, a great creative roster and an ECD who champions innovative, groundbreaking work, even risking losing clients at the expense of bold ideas, versus a depleted creative roster, striped bare by cost cutting practices, and an ECD who champions the bottom line, in-house production, and the brilliance of ‘digital’, but who’s also great mates with the head of marketing.
Considering that it’s Qantas, the smart bet is on the mateship of the bean counters.
Remember who’s running the flying roo and where he comes from . . . accounting.
It’s all in my name
Creative Schmeative, from your argument it’s difficult to make out which agency is which. I don’t see any innovative, groundbreaking work coming out of Droga.
What ‘bold ideas’ scared off CUB and put them in bed with the most awarded agency in Australia?
Good luck on Woolies, btw.
Please let’s hope it doesn’t go that w*#@ker-led French mob! One couldn’t stand that tsunami of self-seving PR that will flow from it.
Unfortunately tho, Droga may lose because of the Woollies win
Not sure how Droga’s going to service all these new accounts, needs a new sweatshop very soon.
But M&C quite happily serviced QANTAS and Woolies for a while there. With triple the staff Droga has, mind you.
My question is, if it’s still going to be church-boys singing ‘I still call Australia home’ all around the world, why does QANTAS need to change agencies?
Cost?
A French owned agency would be an Irish choice wouldn’t it?
Why is DROGA going after an airline gig again after severing ties with Virgin Australia ? It was Droga who walked away from that account wasn’t it???
Droga
(and I don’t work there)
(but hey, they’re going to be hiring)
