Girl viewers act on Impulse with interactive ‘choose-your-own-ending’ video campaign

Yahoo!7 has announced its first choose-your-own-ending online video campaign for Unilever’s Impulse brand.
The campaign, developed by Yahoo!7, Mindshare and Projekta, adapted the global Impulse TVC to create an innovative digital execution.
Leveraging Yahoo!7’s “Encore” advertising format, the execution gives viewers the ability to change the characters and storyline, as well as being able to choose the final ending of the series – creating a truly interactive brand experience.
Says Damon Scarr, Commercial Director Yahoo!7: “Video advertising continues to grow in demand as more brands understand the potential of taking an online video ad experience beyond the TVC. The launch of the Impulse campaign is a testament to Unilever’s commitment to innovation in the digital sphere.
For Yahoo!7, it demonstrates our focus on pushing the boundaries and delivering creative digital advertising opportunities that are truly tailored to client’s needs.”
The Impulse campaign is currently featured across the Yahoo!7 network.

Looks strikingly similar to an RSVP ad that’s on tv at the mo. Oh, and who’s responsible for the casting??
I think a tampon ad where you choose the ending would be great. i.e she’s smiling whilst playing volleyball to soft music then her non brand tampon pops out and the court becomes a bloodbath, now that’s a cannes idea.
Does anyone still believe these kind of things work?
Can anyone even link to an older campaign of this ilk that has worked?
