Gotye works with Oh Yeah Wow director Darcy Predergast to promote stop-motion renaissance
Director Darcy Predergast and his team at Oh Yeah Wow have released their music video for Gotye’s single “Easy Way Out”.
Employing a mix of stop-motion animation and live action, the music video is a visual masterpiece, and is at the front of a stop-motion renaissance.
SceneOn VFX director Andrew “Goldy” Goldsmith worked with Prendergast on the clip.
With Prendergast determined to create the clip without the use of computer generated graphics, the result is wonderfully organic and demands attention. In an age where CG animation seems to be the standard, it’s good to know that these old-school animation techniques can – and should – be used to such great effect.
With Gotye’s previous video for ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ hovering around 90 million views on YouTube, ‘Easy Way Out’ is a guaranteed hit.

Amazing stuff guys and I read 9 months including 24 hour sessions. I hope you guys get a big payoff from this. Gotye is certainly a winner in all of this and the many other great clips over the past 12 months with those highly talented animators and filmmakers working for the love of it.
