Marmalade promotes senior creative Akritidis to creative director; Mallet moves to ECD role
CB Exclusive –
Melbourne based agency, Marmalade, has promoted John Akritidis as creative director from his previous role of senior creative.
Akritidis (near left) has been with Marmalade for nearly three years and held senior creative positions at DDB and Clemenger prior to joining Marmalade.
The promotion comes amid major changes at the agency, including the recent appointment of James Graham (below left) as managing director, after five years as MD of McCann Melbourne.
Last year’s launch of hybrid social and new media company, Ginger, signalled Marmalade’s intention to deliver a broader, more integrated range of services, with additional appointments imminent.
Donal O’Keefe (top left), formerly from Host Sydney, has been appointed as Ginger’s creative technologist and will work closely with Akritidis as the agency continues to refresh and increase its talent base and services.
Says Akritidis: “Marmalade is an exciting place and I’m looking forward to all the great work my minions will produce for our wonderful clients.”
The change sees co-founder and former creative partner, Neil Mallet (top, centre) become executive creative director.
Says Mallet: “I am really chuffed for JA. It is recognition for long nights, tremendous dedication and great talent. He will be terrific.”
Other key internal promotions include Lisa Gumbleton, who becomes a director of the company and client services director.
Previously, Gumbleton was also responsible for planning, as such her new role will see her work closely with Adam Doherty – Marmalade Melbourne’s new planning director.
Doherty also joins from McCann, where he held the planning director’s role.
