OgilvyOne, Melbourne wins Best of Show in Direct for Sally’s First Show at Mobius Awards
OgilvyOne Melbourne has taken out Best of Show in Direct for “Sally’s First Show” at the international Mobius Awards in Los Angeles.
A first place statuette for Copywriting and a second place certificate for Art Direction were also awarded to this direct mail pack.
The already critically acclaimed Sally’s First Show, created on behalf of client Arts Centre Melbourne, recently received national recognition having won two Australia Direct Marketing Association (ADMA) awards for art direction and flat mail.
“Arts Centre Melbourne is proud to support Victorian students through our First Call Fund initiative, a program for Victorian primary and secondary schools facing barriers of access to live performances and related programs due to distance, disadvantage or special circumstance,” said Judith Isherwood, Chief Executive, Arts Centre Melbourne.
“We are delighted with the response to Sally’s First Show and as a result of donations received from this campaign, an extra 3,500 children will be able visit Arts Centre Melbourne and engage with our programs and activities.”
“Winning a Mobius is serious recognition in a genuine field of world-class direct work and follows hot on the heels of our national success,” said Brian Vella, Managing Director, OgilvyOne Melbourne. “I want to congratulate our team for their outstanding effort and leading the world in inspirational Direct advertising. In this increasingly digital age, it’s nice to know that a well-planned and crafted printed piece has a valuable place.”
Sally’s First Show was designed to raise donations for Arts Centre Melbourne’s First Call Fund – a charity created to help regional children experience the performing arts first hand. Designed to mimic a children’s book, it told the story of a young girl whose life was changed by a visit to Arts Centre Melbourne.
As well as receiving creative accolades, the piece also achieved outstanding results, increasing donations by 232% compared to the previous year.
“It’s a superb example of what well-crafted creative work can achieve,” said Dave Scott, Creative Director of OgilvyOne Melbourne, “We actually had people writing to our client to tell them how delighted they were with the book.”
Now in its 41st year, The Mobius Awards typically attracts entrants from nearly 30
countries and judged globally by panels of senior industry experts. Each year the Mobius Awards recognises outstanding work in Business, Television, Documentary, Educational, Entertainment, Industrial, Informational and Student productions.
“The Best of Show awards are selected by a second panel of judges from among the first-place Mobius winners,” said Vella. “OgilvyOne beat a highly competitive field of leading international agencies to win for best practice work on behalf of our client, Melbourne Arts Centre”.
Says Richard Ralphsmith, newly appointed Executive Creative Director of Ogilvy Group Melbourne: “Clearly, we’re an agency on the creative upswing. This Best of Show Award is proof that we have the world-class talent here to help drive it.”
