Kiwi freelancer Alan Jones wins Young Glory gold in profesional category and Queensland student Andrew Cruickshank is shortlisted
BBH New York & BBH Labs director of innovation Saneel Radia has chosen his winners for Round 3 of Young Glory – a global competition for industry newcomers and under 30s that offers 8 briefs from 8 different industry leaders over 8 months.
New Zealand freelancer Alan Jones took out the first ever Young Glory Gold in the Professional Category, along with Sid Lee and Commun securing a joint Professional silver.
Queensland University of Technology student Andrew Cruickshank also took home points for being shortlisted.
The brief was Young Glory’s toughest yet, asking participants to help the Occupy Movement benefit from marketing. This was no easy feat considering Occupy Wallstreet was originated by anti-advertising orgnaisation Adbusters
Says Radia: “In crafting my brief I was eager to help this group show off their ability to do things beyond advertising, something critical to the future of any agency. I also wanted to see how they dealt with ambiguity, a reality any marketing entity must accept in a world changing as quickly as ours. I was quite excited to see the ones that took that formula and created an output utterly untypical of any agency today. It’s those unique submissions I awarded.”
Bergs School of Communication and Miami Ad School took out Silver and Bronze respectively in the Student Category .
The Round 4 brief for January 2012 is now live and has been set by Wieden+Kennedy London Interactive Creative Director Gav-Gordon Rogers.
