CB Blog more engaged with its audience than AdNews, B&T, Mumbrella + Australian Creative

The CB Blog is well ahead of Australian ad trade press competitors AdNews, B&T, Mumbrella, Australian Creative and Marketing Magazine on three major indices according to Alexa figures for the last three months – August to October, 2011.
Whilst we can’t compare the sites using ABA data (as the others, apart from CB and Mumbrella, choose not to be audited), according to Alexa figures the CB Blog is well ahead on three major indices important to advertisers: daily time on site, page views per user and bounce rate.
Daily time on site per user for the CB Blog is a lengthy 18.4 minutes, compared to only 2.21 minutes for B&T, 2.31 minutes for AdNews, 3.31 minutes for Mumbrella, 2.05 minutes for Australian Creative and 1.43 minutes for Marketing Magazine.

Daily page views per user over the same period for the CB Blog is 8.4 page views, compared to B&T with 1.78, AdNews with 1.88, 2.11 for Mumbrella, 1.4 for Australian Creative and 1.53 for Marketing Magazine.
The Bounce rate (the percentage of visits that consists of a single page view) for the CB Blog is lower than the others (the lower, the better) with the CB Blog at 35%. This compares to 69.7% for B&T, 65.1% for AdNews, 52% for Mumbrella, 76.5% for Australian Creative and 74.3% for Marketing Magazine.
Traffic Rank. For the 3 month period, Mumbrella had a global Alexa traffic rank of 34,922, the CB Blog is ranked 68,488, AdNews is ranked 71,390, B&T is ranked 71,218, Marketing Magazine is ranked 186,816 and Australian Creative is ranked 1,017,792.
The CB Blog App (like the Bestads App) is one of most popular ad trade press apps worldwide, ranked highly in the Advertising and Commercials categories in the iTunes App Store. Both are ranked in the top 250 Business Apps in Australia as well as New Zealand.
The Campaign Brief Blog and Mumbrella are both placed in the top 100 influential AdAge’s Power150 ranking of Media and Marketing blogs. And of those that actually cover advertising news, both the CB Blog and Mumbrella are ranked in the #20 in the world.
But does advertising with CB and Bestads work? It certainly does, especially for the likes of Australia’s successful international production companies Curious, Revolver, Plaza, The Sweet Shop, Luscious International, Filmgraphics, Finch and Zoom.
Says Mark Toia (left), director and founder of Zoom: “I really do think that advertising with CB in print for the last 5 years and Bestads and the CB Blogs for the last two years has made an incredible impact in global visibility and profit margins… but then again, you do need a good reel to back it up as one of my international reps had just relayed to me just last night.
“For us now, 80 to 90% is new and repeat offshore business, 10% Australia… Australia is picking up again, but thank god for the rest of the world. I’m so glad I practiced what I preached about spending money on global advertising.
“CB Blogs and Bestads online banner advertising has been well worth it on a global level… that’s for sure.”
