NZ public urged to speak up against drink driving in new spot via Clemenger BBDO Wellington
When partying down and chilling with your mates, the last thing you want to be is a killjoy. But once you consider the outcome of saying nothing to your drunken buddy who is about to drive, the grim truth unfolds.
The Sweet Shop’s director Steve Ayson and Clemenger BBDO Wellington paint a charmingly real and funny image for NZTA of what it might be like to say nothing – making speaking up, the far better option.

Nice writting Mutch!
new you had it in you eh bro!
Brigid Alkema, leeeeeeegend…
awesome…really, really awesome.
And many thanks to the chief executive, the managing director and the global executive producer for holding the camera. Modesty forbids us from mentioning the global chief executive, the regional vice presidents, the chief operating officer and the executive financial directors.
It’s ‘brew’, not ‘bro’ eh.
Holy shit I can’t even believe how good this ad is! It’s a shame this approach couldn’t be taken in Australia. People would have a fuss about it treating the subject too lightly. I think this will be perfect at getting through to the younger generations.
Bravo guys! BRAVO!
love it
Fresh!
Has Taika Waititi seen this?
Hey there ‘credits’,
Think of the number of times “the chief executive, the managing director [or] the global executive producer” have fucked up your ad or stopped it running altogether, and then decide whether having their names listed on an absolute corker is the right thing to do or not.
Cheers.
Why would the upper management of a production company want to fuck your ad up?
So good. Watched this over a dozen times, forwarded to all and sundry and I’m now calling people “spoons”. Love it.
Noice one Mitch.
Love it.
greatest ad i’ve seen. amazing writing, directing.
Nicely written Brigid
Take note TAC!
Seriously…. do people actually talk like this in NZ?
Hey Bro…let’s all sound like a bro bro…..give me a friggin break…one of the cringiest things to hear is a kiwi accent…shut Tum someone’s dunted the Citrun….now we have to put up with everyone sounding like Jake the bloody Mus.
What’s happened to my country since I’ve been away?
This is seriously one of my favourite ads of the year. I’ve watched it so many times on YouTube. Brilliantly done.
Steve Ayson has the golden touch!
