Brisbane ad industry gets ready to celebrate the 37th annual Advertising and Design Awards
Brisbane’s advertising and design community come together next month for the much anticipated Brisbane Advertising and Design Club Awards. For the 37th year running the awards will celebrate the best in advertising and design that Brisbane has to offer.
Says BAD 2009 Person of the Year winner and current BADC president Matt Dye: “The board are really excited about this year’s event, it’s the first awards under the new name BADC (formerly known as BAD), we’ve seen some really creative campaigns this year which is a clear show of how well Brisbane is doing.”
Says chairman of judges and Clemenger BBDO Melbourne creative director, Julian Schreiber (left): “Throughout the weekend of judging the people at BADC kept on remarking how nice all the judges were. Frankly it seemed odd. Very odd. But the truth is it’s kind of easy to be nice when the standard of work you’re judging is relatively high, the stand-out work is pretty obvious and the show is really well organised.
“I’d like to say there were deep emotional struggles, wrestling with what to give what, battles about metal where some guy sprayed saliva and angry words about something not really being integrated all over another guy who was wearing a perfectly faded surf t-shirt but unfortunately the jury was unified, easy going and the lay of the land seemed clear.”
Voting closed on 31st August, and the entries were judged by a panel of 24 judges from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
Last year’s Best of Show was taken out by George Patterson Y&R for its Asia Pacific Breweries’ beer coasters.
The award ceremony will be held on Saturday 5th November at Victoria Park Golf Complex, a first for the newly named BADC, the MC this year is Triple J’s Adam Spencer. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit badc.com.au
