baker.jpgTaxi Film Production has signed multi-award-winning director Steve Baker to its roster.

Baker is best known for his outstanding animated short films – taking out top honours at Tropfest 2007 for his cult hit ‘An Imaginary Life’.

In 2008 Baker picked up the AFI award for Best Short Animation for ‘Dog With Electric

Collar’.

2009 saw him gain the rare honour to be featured in the SHOTS Directors to

Watch in Australasia, and in 2011 he won the Tropfest Mobile Masterpieces for his

short film ‘Following’ shot entirely on his iPhone.

tropfest.jpghelp.jpgSays Taxi executive producer Andrew Wareham: “Steve has an incredible pedigree for a young film maker. What excited the judges and what excites me is that he has a real sensibility for the human condition – also rare for a young guy.

When you look at his work you see this with human stories that are not only rich in

empathy, but also have a wonderful observational, offbeat humour about them. So much so that comedy legends Peter Farrelly and Charlie Wessler handpicked Steve’s live action short film, ‘The Apprentice’ to be part of a new feature film due for worldwide release in April 2012. Steve challenges conventions, and we are really excited to have him join us.”
