salik.jpgSalik Silverstein and his cousin, Henry Maas, have lived around Smith Street Collingwood for a combined total of 40 years. In that time, they have created short films, music videos, video installations and other creative endeavours. Its location enthused much of their work.

Passionate about not forgetting the rich mixture of characters and community (which is changing through gentrification), as well as reflecting on an important part of their own history, Silverstein and Maas spent eight months filming the people and street scapes. The result is a video installation that will be screened at the Collingwood Gallery, supported by their paintings, which are inspired by the street and their inhabitants.

The exhibition is on for 2 weeks from September 30 until October 13.
