Leo Burnett wins Gold at Kinsale Shark Awards; BBDO New York takes agency of the year title

kevin godley.jpgWork from over 24 countries was celebtated at the 49th Kinsale Sharks International Advertising Festival in Kinsale, Ireland.

The agency of the Year was awarded to BBDO New York. And BBDO was awarded ‘Network of the year’ while Wieden & Kennedy Amsterdam won the Grand Prix for Nike‘s ‘Write the Future’. 

From the few entries received from Australia, Leo Burnett, Sydney won the only Gold in the International Integrated Campaign category for its Bundaberg ‘Watermark’ campaign and Euro RSCG, Sydney won Silver for its Vanish Napisan ‘Sponsor the White House’ campaign in the Digital Fresh Thinking category.

The guest speaker was Kevin Godley (pictured) from 10cc and Godley and Creme fame.

Amongst the big winners were BBDO New York, Leo Burnett Worldwide, Euro RSCG, Wieden & Kennedy, Saatchi UK and AMVBBDO.ITV and Fox TV, Aardman Animation, BDA Creative, Chellomedia, Rushes, Publiicis Conseil, Axis animation and RKCR Y&R also received Sharks for their work.

The inaugural Shark design awards went to The Chase UK, Arc Worldwide, Havas, Coy Communications and Leo Burnett Toronto.

Irish agencies, production companies and promo makers tradionally turn out in force at the Kinsale Sharks.  This year they were joined for the first time by media shops to celebrate the inaugural Kinsale Sharks Media Excellence awards.  Mindshare, PHD, Starcom, Carat and Vizeum were winners of the first ever Sharks Media Excellence awards.

Pulicis QMP, DDFH&B, Chemistry, Boys & Girls, O&M, Leo Burnett, Irish International, Rotcho, Windmill Lane Pictures and Blinder all had to make journeys to the podium to pick up Sharks for their work on TV, Radio, Digital and Print. 

Vince Gallagher was named best new Irish film director.
