Yellow Pages launches Yellovator game in new campaign via Clemenger Proximity, Melbourne
Yellow Pages, via agency Clemenger Proximity, Melbourne has launched a campaign which includes a branded digital game and banner ads across Ninemsn, Yahoo and Bigpond.
To highlight that Yellow Pages is now on more devices than ever before the agency created Yellovator, a game that can be played on many devices. Use your phone as a game controller to help Smasher Dan send phones with helpful Yellow Pages searches to the folks in the street below.
The game can be played on three digital formats – via rich media banners, outdoor sites and on the microsite – and for the first two weeks the game can be played at five outdoor media sites in Melbourne and Sydney.

I thought Yellow Pages digital work was handled by CHE/Simon Richards? Did they lose the account?
I think the account is shared between Simon Richards at CHE and Proximity. However, you never hear about the Yellow Pages work coming out of CHE since it pales in comparison to the work coming out of Proximity.
Simon Richards only works on the Yellow Pages website. The creative side of things is handled by Clemenger Proximity.
Simon Richards is no longer. It’s all just CHE now. Anyway, they were having trouble keeping Yellow Pages, so I’m guessing the client has moved on. Can somebody confirm or deny this? I’m sure we would’ve heard something if they lost the client.
Whatever, it’s really lame!
It’s not lame compared to the stuff that comes out of CHE and the Simon Richards creative team.
Yes, I can confirm Simon Richards/CHE lost the client. I find it strange that the news hasn’t gotten around yet.
I heard from a friend who heard from a friend who heard from a friend at CHE that they lost the Yellow Pages account because the client wasn’t happy with the creative director in charge of the account.
If you are going to do something which pushes things technically, then have a creative idea which actual works within that, rather than slapping something on.
Being on many devices is one thing. Being good on many devices is another thing entirely. This seems to prove the point that yellow pages isn’t good on any digital format.
The game is poor to say the least and there is no reason to use your phone as a controller, indeed its easier with the mouse. If you are going to create something that uses your mobile make it relevant.
Um, and it doesn’t work if you visit the site on an iPhone. LAME.
Lame? Seriously? Would you prefer another flat banner that does nothing, that no one looks at? I think it’s fantastic corporate clients are willing to push the envelope rather than doing the same old thing. Well done Clemenger for actually getting the concept up!
