Second annual Live and Love film competition now open for entries with $15,000 prize money
The Australian Herpes Management Forum (AHMF), Australia’s leading independent organisation dedicated to the diagnosis, management and prevention of herpes viruses, has launched the second annual Live and Love Short Film competition.
The Live and Love Short Film competition aims to encourage all Australians to create a 30 second film in response to the question “How do you tell someone that you have herpes?” The film can be in any genre – comedy, drama, sci-fi, fantasy, animation, film noir – and is open to anyone who wishes to enter.
There is $15,000 worth of prize money to be won in the competition that opens today (7 September 2011) and closes midnight 28 October 2011. Finalist films are to be shown at the Chauvel Cinema in Sydney on 10 November 2011 – National Herpes Awareness Day.
What?
Live and Love is a film competition. It’s all about communicating about HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus), both the cold sore kind of herpes (HSV1) and the genital kind (HSV2).
Who?
Anyone can enter. Just create a 30 second film about how to tell your partner you have herpes.
Why?
You can win $15,000. There’s the $10,000 Judges Choice Award or $5,000 in People’s Choice Awards (5 prizes of $1,000).
When?
Competition opens 7 September 2011 and closes midnight 28 October 2011
Where?
Finalist films will be shown at the Chauvel Cinema in Sydney on 10 November 2011 – National Herpes Awareness Day.
What format?
Use drama, animation, action, comedy, romance, sci-fi, film noir – whatever. You can enter more than one film
Why is there a competition?
People get nervous when they hear the word ‘herpes’. In order to raise awareness and reduce transmission of the virus we need people to understand herpes and feel comfortable talking about it.
