“Shane’s grounding in design, his stellar international career and his ability to inspire made him the perfect choice”, said TADA founder and speaker at the launch event, Mark Ringer (below left).

Says Gibson; “If my travels have taught me anything it is that great talent and brilliant work can come from anywhere. Tasmania is no exception. The opportunity to be involved in judging any award is a honour but the chance to help lay the foundation of a creative institution is nothing short of a privilege.”

Says Ringer: “It is important that our creative development as an industry isn’t stifled by insularity, which is why Scott has been invited. His firm Terroir was included in Wallpaper* Magazine’s Directory of 101 of the World’s Most Exciting New Architects, his judgement will be invaluable.

“Marcus, Kate and Andrew’s credentials are top-flight and in keeping with the goal of nurturing a uniquely Tasmanian vernacular, it is important that part of the jury is familiar with the circumstances in which the work was created, and therefore locally-based.”

The judging will take place in Hobart early in 2012.
