Three Drunk Monkeys creates new ‘sexy not exy’ campaign for Australian underwear brand Rio
RIO have asked people to have a good look at their poncy undies with a new campaign launching tonight via agency Three Drunk Monkeys.
Imploring Australians to Keep It Rio, the campaign ponders how undies have gone from a simple support garment to the ridiculously overpriced fashion statement they are today.
The TVC will launch nationally tonight along with a print and shopalites advertorial campaign.

Nice.
Anyway, I’m off to Best’n’Less for some no-name bogcatchers.
Just to clear a few things up, in case anyone’s confused:
If you’re listed just as an ECD, it basically means your contribution to the campaign was to hire the people who did it.
If you’re listed as both ECD and CD, it means that not only did you hire the people who did it, but you also helped direct and tweak the campaign.
If you’re listed as both Writer and Art Director, while your Writer is only listed as Writer and not Art Director, it means that the Art Director is trying to tell the world that they contributed way more to the campaign than their writer did.
The best Rio idea in years.
Well done people.
nice line…
Nice idea but you don’t have an idea revert to jingoism with old aussie male voiceover. Done to Death!
1.05pm.
that’s a little bit funny.
@5:45
The phrase “bogcatcher” will forever remain in my vocabulary.
My most sincere thanks.
Nice idea – kind of shabby direction.
@3:47 PM & 5:45 PM – It’s pure gold isn’t it LOL BOGCATCHER! LOL!
Nice ad! Some nice little insights in there that everyone can relate to and have a ‘giggle’….for me the only improvement would be to somehow define what ‘keeping it Rio’ actually means. Good job Three pissed Monkeys, love it
nice idea but BAD exeucution. ewww.
good idea, botched by dreadful direction.
Gotta agree with 1:05. I’m a big fan of The Tims, but those credits aren’t a good look.
Very true 1:05.
Another subtlety: If the art director is listed as art director/copywriter and the writer is listed as writer/art director then you know the art director did the idea and the line, but happens to a good bloke who doesn’t mind sharing the credit.
bad direction. good idea…
Either that or neither the art director or the copywriter had anything to do with the credits and they were compiled by the suit who dealt with the art director much more in the closing days of producing the ad because that’s what art directors do, fuss about the details and drink coffee and eat snacks at the production studio, while the writer was back at the office writing copy for a brochure and eating a packed lunch he brought from home.
Hiya Michael
We musT be thick; or not your target audience. I don’t understand what the Rio advert is ‘getting’ at; covering our bits?
At our place there were differing opinions.
1. Taking our minds off Bonds going OS (Mark-40)
2. Having a pop @ people who wear expensive knickers (me, &
the 5 other women @ dinner. 38, 34, 21, 18, 36 – we love them)
3. Doing the ‘biz’ (Michael-34)
4. Deliberate annoying voice-over, branding our
our brains (Jamie-25, Mark-40 and all females)
5. Get real = Young woman in undies. (Matty-36, Jamie-25)
6. Girl’s bum (Andy-36, Thomas-50)
If you’ve the time, I’m hoping you’ll let us know.
Thank you for your time.

crap.
art direction is quite poor. The bed scene is awful.
No money?
