G2 Australia bolsters leadership team
G2 Australia has created a new Leadership Team, with three key hires forming part of general manager Ed Commander’s overarching strategy for the evolution of the business.
G2 Australia (part of the WPP Group) is currently working with British American Tobacco on the plain packaging campaign.
DM and CRM specialist Nigel Smith joins the team as Direct Marketing Strategy Lead following an eight year stint as Director at the hub agency. Smith’s extensive experience includes DM and CRM marketing with major corporations including The Royal Mail, Westpac and Delphin Lend Lease.
Brand Strategy Lead Carolyne Wildman will bring her wealth of knowledge and skill in communications planning and strategy creation to G2 Australia. Her 22 years of marketing experience spans three continents covering consultancy, agency and the client side.
New Creative Director Leo Bajzert completes G2 Australia’s Leadership Team and brings superior creative thinking across the core disciplines of DM, digital and design. Bazjert’s previous career saw him in senior creative positions in the UK, Singapore and Australia.
“The creation of our Leadership Team is an important step for the ongoing growth of the business. This is the brains trust that will facilitate the launch of G2’s new global tools and products into the Australian market in July,” says Commander.

Making money from cigarettes. Not cool.
WPP (Why Pay People?) has just announced that they’ll be rolling out the strategy for Big Tobacco. You know it makes sense. You’d think they’d be too embarrassed to show their faces.
“The creation of our Leadership Team is an important step for the ongoing growth of the business.”
As in, more people dying?
Flogging death sticks. Not good.
G2’s new global tools and products? When are these guys going to drop the management jargon?
You can rationalise the cigarette-selling as the protection of free market economics, the protection of personal freedoms, the protection of the advertising industry itself.
But, that’s just bollocks.
Cigarettes kill people. I have personal experience of that. One life stubbed out too soon is too many.
Rethink the revenue.
Other clients will think more of you for letting it go.
Booze kills people too and the processed cr@p they sell us in the supermarkets is clogging our arteries and triggering heart attacks.
How about pollution from our cars and power stations?
Big Tobacco ain’t the only bad boy in town so not lets be hypocritical about this.
G2 is part of Grey. You’re really killing’em in Sydney guys.
Anonymous @ 1:57 pm Big Tobacco may not be the only bad boy in town but it is the only one where every unit of its product does harm and the dealers and their apologists know it. Your analogy is numbingly stupid.
G2 is actually a completely separate entity to grey.
just thought you might like to know the truth…rather than spread misinformed lies.
That’s why JayGrey, Grey Healthcare and G2 share the same premises? A healthy dying mixture…

you are quite frankly an idiot.
they are run completely separately with different reporting lines and different everything.
stop muckracking you hack.
i’m sure where you work is probably next to a mortuary.
but then and again you are probably creatively dead….

Silly Boy, a Grey, or a G by any other name will still taint your brand image.
Now the association and proximity to the smell of death at G2 isn’t likely to hurt JayGrey’s reputation but for Grey Healthcare? Imagine the conflicts of interest in your small, and may I say inarticulate little mind.
Clients passing by the agency that sells vice, with early death as the likely result of your fun. Dan Draper refused to write copy for tobacco, and he’s a 2 pack a day man.
Having a healthcare department and a tobacco-servicing arm is certainly clever business, sounds like good future-proofing to me.
Ed Commander! Best name since Nathan Explosion.
